1st book was Bag of Bones. Can’t remember the order I read the rest in just remember how much I loved and continue to love every one of his books and short stories!
My first King book was The Stand. I was 12 and my older brother let me borrow it… I consumed it in no time and was forever hooked!
Oh, my, my, my.First, best was The Shining had to be'78, '79... After that, I binged through my friend's stash.... Carrie, ' Salem's Lot... I bought the Bachman Books.... The Long Walk captured me. I never developed an interest in the Dark Tower series - maybe too long an interval - but I read everything else up to The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - so far my most favorite because it captured me and transported me. I'm picking up again from there....may discover a new favorite...who knows!!?
My first was The Gunslinger and it was the toughest one for me to get through. I'm working on IT now!
My first King book was Pet Cemetery. I was hooked from there. Always buying and collecting his books.
I started with The Gunslinger. It remains one of my all time favorites to this day. (Fight me about it) lol
My first book was Carrie then The Institute and so on 😊
Gerald’s game! I was 13 years old and got it at a garage sale. It was the scariest and most complex thing I had read at the time. It hooked me and made me a Constant Reader.
The Shining. I knew of the movie and I knew OF Stephen King but it was a FRIENDS episode that got me to buy it and read it. Circa 1996-97.
When I was a kid in the 70s, I read Salem's Lot, about the time the mini-series came out. I already was a big horror fan reading a lot of Poe, but King's smooth writing and use of pop culture got me hooked.
For me, it was The Shining. Somebody loaned my mother the paperback copy for some reason (my mother loathed horror in any form), but I picked it up, and devoured in about three days. Been a King fan ever since.
mine was The Shining. I got it for my 13th birthday and read it in 2 days. It was a great way to start getting into stephen king
My first interaction with King was reading "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" and "The Body" from "Different Seasons" in my Creative Writing class my freshman year of high school. It was a great way to brag that I had read him even though I was still too scared to read anything marked "horror!" Now I'm a huge fan of the genre and I definitely have King to thank!
I think it was 'Pet Sematary', but it could've also been 'Desperation', 'Children of the Corn', 'Carrie' or 'Cujo'. I read a lot of King's book when I was a teenager, then it stopped, but always been a big fan. Since a couple of years I'm reading his books again.
Mine was the shining and I absolutely fell in love with it. Actually until this day that is my favorite book
'salems Lot Have since read it five times I think.
Definitely one of the best horror novels ever written.
I’m currently reading The Long Walk (second time through) for a book challenge group I’m in. It’s been so long since I read it, I vaguely remember it-and who would have thought walking would be so intense?! 😳

Did you like the ending the first time around? You must tell me how you like the ending now.
I genuinely don't know. There are so many stories I've read, but only recently found out he wrote, that I can say with complete honesty that I really don't know which was the first.
Andrea wrote: "I think ... "Four Past Midnight" ... 30 years ago"I remember reading this.. really good stuff.
If this is the one I'm thinking of I found the story about the guy who buys the painting that changes pretty disturbing..!!
