My 1st King book was IT when in HS. I devoured it in a weekend and have been a fan ever since.

I started being read to at 3,
Started to read to my self at 4 - 5.
Got the first of my long line of library cards at 6 and started meandering from used book store to book store at 6.
Every Monday Wednesday and Saturday I'd be found cozier up in a story/ library till closing tine. I devoured books. To this day when people give to me a gift it's Opium perfume by Yves St Laurent, or a book by my favourite authors, of which I have numerous favourites.
I'm 63, still reading like it's being outlawed next week.!!
I love it.

it's Debra, I forgot in my last comment to add the object of the comment which was which was the first SK BOOK I ever read was.
It was, of course, "CARRIE"
Read on!
DEBRA

I just started reading "Mr. Mercedes".
I'm only one chapter into this book, so far so good!
Happy Reading!
Debra.

“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.” has to be in the top five best opening lines ever.

I remember when HBO was a new thing and they would play like 12 movies a month over and over and over and I watched Cujo about 100 times in one summer. It's a great book and one of the few movies that is almost as good. Dee Wallace was the quintessential 80's mom, right?

My family rented a vacation house for a week one summer, and I had finished the book I brought. I checked out their shelves, and Bag of Bones was the only thing that looked interesting. I wasn't finished by the time the vacation was over, so I made my mom call the people renting it to us and ask if we could keep it! Luckily they said yes, and I've been hooked ever since.

Oh my gosh this question is so hard because I'm 45 years old and I've been reading his books since the late 1980's. I graduated High School in 1986. If I had to guess, it was probably "Carrie". But my all time favorite book that I can read over and over and have the big book unedited edition that he put out years ago. is "The Stand" I don't know why I adore that book by him but I do.

I think you should disturb a teacher whenever you can. I try to disturb my teacher/wife as often as possible. :-)
BTW, I went back for a high school reunion and was amazed to see several stephen king books in the required reading section of the student bookstore. One of them was The Shining.
