Sarah | 13814 comments Tomorrow's Record Store Day. Lots of indie stores (those that are left) are giving away free CDs and vinyl and posters and stuff with purchase.

Mary (merrussell) Wish I did! My town is so small we can't seem to support one.
Plus I am spoiled with Rhapsody and Pandora.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I used to have favorite record stores. But I can't say where the nearest would be anymore, and I don't know why record stores would continue to exist a decade from now. They'd have to differentiate in some way (e.g. sell coffee) or serve a niche of some sort. I mean...why would a typewriter store exist now?

Back in Chicago, growing up, I spent a ton of tie in record stores. My local favorite was Rolling Stone records, but I also loved Reckless Records, Vintage Vinyl, and the old, legendary Wax Trax store.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments we don't have one here anymore. we used to go to musicland when i was in school and also obadiah's which was a record store/head shop. you could buy nazareth hair of the dog and also get a bottle of rush at the same time

elpee will probably still exist in a decade from now. they sell to a niche market and vinyl never left the store. i noticed today plato has started selling books now.

i bought two cd's today and got a free record store day tote.

paulusma - irecord

british sea power - valhalla dancehall

i didn't have time to go to the in-store concerts :(

That's where Sweeter's family is from. When we visit we make it a point to go. We can't not go.

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments I used to love Tower but of course they're extinct. We have a decent independent one here called Fingerprints. They carry a lot of vinyl and have a great used section. They also often have live music. I got to meet Andrew Bird there so that was really cool. But honestly I don't really frequent record stores anymore.

Phil | 11837 comments What's a record store?

message 15: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments It's a store that has records. Like the record for longest home rum, the record for Most songs to hit #1 by a female artist etc. You should really go to one sometime Phil, they are pretty interesting.

message 16: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Oooh, I want to see that one for the home rum. I've had home beer, and I hope the home rum is as good.
