Félix (habitseven) That is very often the case. Everybody makes out. They sell huge lots with no marketing or shelf placement fees. And lots of people are still willing to pay more for top brands. It's like fleet sales for GM and Ford.

Phil | 11852 comments Generic Coco-Puffs are NOTHING like the real thing. Same for Cap'n Crunch. Generic colas? Gag!

message 2053: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yeah, there's that, too. Some store brands are much closer to the real thing. Costo's Kirkland brand is a prime example. But it varies from item to item for sure.

Phil | 11852 comments Costco used to have individual serving cups of grapefruit from an outside supplier. They were delish.

Now they sell Kirkland brand grapefruit. Ick.

But their VitaRain water is good.

And the one near us no longer sells Dole Banana Dippers (slices of banana dipped in chocolate). Damn! I really liked those.

Chicken & rice burrito.

I used to LOVE those little cups of grapefruit (got mine at Safeway, so they weren't Kirkland), but I seem to have developed an intolerance for citrus. Is that normal? Every time I eat grapefruit now my guts churn like you wouldn't believe. :(

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments What am I going to do with approximately 3 pounds of Kahlua pork??? Can I use it in a casserole with rice or something like that? I need an idea. Don't really feel like burritos.

Peanut butter & Brummel & Browns on a hoagie roll...I was late this morning, really, really late. I grabbed the first thing I saw and ran out the door:

Hoagie roll
Craisins
Grapes and
Sugar free jello cup

Not my best effort.

(Edit: Always have PB & B&B at work...for toast.)

Sure! Kahlua pork, white rice, maybe a touch of teriyaki sauce and pineapple? YUM!

So just mix it all up? Thanks Amelia. I'm thinking of going more Cuban style--throw in some peppers. I'll look on Epicurious for Cuban pork/rice combos.

glenda wrote: "Homemade gyozas"

Emily, they're so delicious! Here is a link to a very simple recipe.

http://iowagirleats.com/2010/03/06/a-...

You can make them with meat, chicken, or vegetarian. I make them vegetarian with different variations, eg: cabbage, carrots, sprouts, onion, garlic, baby bok choy.... sooooo good!
You'll come up with your faves as you go along. The sky is the limit! :O)

Hint, after making them the first time, I found the flavour a little bland, so I started adding onion juice and a little garlic to perk it up. You can also add a little hot sauce, which is also delish!

message 2093: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm, I love gyoza, almost always get it at my favorite sushi place, but I never considered making it myself...

Thanks, Glenda!!
