What's the Last Thing You Ate? (hot dog and Costco discussion, but that was a long time ago)
Hmmm, Halloween theme.I made butternut squash soup a couple of nights ago, It kind of orange as it has pureed carrots as an ingredient.
Corn Bisque 'dessert' soup.Interesting. Overly sweet and almost was warm melted ice cream with a slight flavor of corn bread.
A chef/cook with too much time on their hands 'creating' something new and interesting! Next time I'll stick with the kiwi fritter with armagnac sauce.

Crackers with Saint Agur bleu cheese, and with Henning's Cranberry Cheddar. Both very good. The Henning's is very mild and the cranberry gives it a nice sweetness. I generally like my cheddar sharp.
Both of these were very small packages in the "Afraid of Commitment?" basket at Whole Foods. Which I appreciate because I like to try a small amount of cheese before I commit - cheeses at Whole Foods are very expensive.

We do have some very good cheeses at one of our local grocers, though.
One thing I learned when my husband ran for Congress: If you live close to a Whole Foods, your precinct/county probably votes Blue. If you live several hours away from a Whole Foods (like most of Iowa) your county likely votes Republican. There is more food insecurity and food deserts in rural Iowa than in the larger cities and suburbs.

St George does not have one, and is rock-solid red.

Spicy beef stir fry. Then I had the Kiwi fritter with Armagnac sauce. Think brandied fruit, but with Kiwi and an armagnac. I've been eating a meal or so a week with a chef who is developing a pre - preview menu. Now whether the restaurant will be able to open next year or not is a different question! The spicy beef stir fry was made with chopped steak.
Apple cider donut. I told myself I wasn't going to buy any more of these....but they were on sale. Way on sale. $5 to $2.

Just had a chocolate cherry cordial. Just one, not the box...

Our former Gov. (now Secretary of Agriculture) Tom Vilsack had a lot to do with this. Huzzah, Sec. Vilsack!
