Here's a batch of free history books. Near the bottom of the web page are some that already had a price increase to $0.99 or more. As always, the free ones may not remain free for long.

M.K. Turner (mkt127) | 22 comments Witness for Wendy
Witness for Wendy – FREE 15th – 19th May
http://smarturl.it/WitnessforWendy
A missing actress and a bored writer, and a matter of life and death when their stories collide ……

Actress Wendy Knight thought her life was finally turning around. She had a steady gig on a popular soap opera and had just bought a beautiful cottage. But when her ex came back into the picture, he wanted to take all of that away from her and more…and then she disappears.

Scriptwriter Angie Bearing longs to write something deeper than daytime soaps. When the plot for a new thriller comes to her, she doesn't question it. At least until she discovers an uncanny resemblance between her story and the unsolved disappearance of an actress named Wendy. Angie begins to investigate. As she retraces Wendy's footsteps, she doesn't realise that someone is watching her. Someone who would do anything to keep the awful truth buried for good.

Witness for Wendy is the captivating first book in the Bearing Witness series, a collection of exciting thrillers. If you like surprising twists, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and a touch of the unusual, then you'll love M K Turner's fast-paced mystery.

Arcadia Books is still publishing old history books every few days. At the moment I write this, I see 22 such books that are free. The prices are likely to increase any day now.

In case you have not yet downloaded one of the many copies of The Mueller Report that were free when first released, here are two more that appeared in the past week, temporarily priced at $0.

Recommended: Salomé by Oscar Wilde. This edition is especially worth downloading for the lovely illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley, which were included in the 1893 edition. Get it before the price goes up.

Other free books by/about Oscar Wilde, as well as old books about witchcraft and biblical topics, can be found here. CAREFUL: some books on this list have already gone up to 99 cents, but most are still free.

As always, they may not remain free for long.

The Return of the Soldier by Rebecca West

The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (Illustrated) by Howard Pyle

The Story of Mankind (Illustrated Edition): History of the Human Civilization Retold for Children by Hendrik Willem van Loon

Shakespeare for Children (Illustrated Edition) by Charles Lamb & Mary Lamb

The Magic Pudding (Illustrated Edition): Fantastic Adventures of a Koala, a Sailor and a Penguin by Norman Lindsay

My Father's Dragon (Illustrated) by Ruth Stiles Gannett

Iranian History -- five short volumes in one book, from the Captivating History series. I don't know if these are written by actual historians, and I prefer books where the information is supported by references (I like footnotes), which I don't see here. Still, these books probably give a decent overview of the long history of Persia. It's nice that they are FREE while Iran is in the news and curious people want to know more about this country.

Three more copies of The Mueller Report are free at the moment (in case you missed it the last zillion times I posted other free editions.)

The Mueller Report, published June 24
The Mueller Report, was $0.99
The Mueller Report, was $1.99.
