Perhaps someone else can answer your question. I must be really old school, because I've been waiting for months for the Audible Manager to be virus-free so that I can listen where I usually do - on my PC or on a SanDisk player. Kindles, phones or tablets are so much bigger and heavier and require at least pockets to use, so I've not become versatile on Kindles listening. Also I'm hard of hearing, so I have to use earbuds, therefore Echo doesn't work for me, so I haven't experimented with that.
When we first migrated to Goodreads from the Amazon Kindle users forum, I asked whether we had to refer links from only Amz-approved sites. I was told I could link anything I wanted. This being not a link from the Amz ecosystem, I would wager that Kindles or Echos don't allow access, unless someone knows how to get non-Amz mp3's onto those devices.
Hopefully someone else is more informed than me.

To play audio files on your mobile device you will need either a 3G or WiFi internet connection. Simply browse on your mobile device to www.learnoutloud.com/mobile and sign in. Make sure the Mobile Player format is selected in your download library and click the PLAY buttons to play the files.

FYI -- I contacted learnoutloud.com and asked about using their book with Amazon devices. The response I got:I would recommend using Audible.com for Kindle and Echo as they are Amazon owned and tied into their services.

That's what I suspected. Amazon is going to be very possessive about what's easy. However I like the "free" part, so I'm willing to jump through a few more hoops to listen just the way I like. If necessary, I'll use the fire as an android tablet, but I'd rather use a thumb-sized mp3 player that will fit into a rolled-up sleeve while I walk around untethered and un-wifi'd. (my summer clothes tend to have fewer pockets, unfortunately)
