ONCE WERE WARRIORS, plus anyone that likes UNDERBELLY might like it too.
New Zealand:
ONCE WERE WARRIORS: One of the closest comparisons, though my characters are younger and there are more points of view. Plus, it's faster-paced due to the type of characters portrayed.
The United Kingdom:
SKINS (but on speed ... lol, well, more speed or I should say weed. Tama makes Cook look tame). I was also surfing the net to find other comparisons and I saw the trailers for KIDULTHOOD and ADULTHOOD (the sequel). Yeah, definitely the same genre, plus that guy certainly wields a baseball bat like my character Nike.
The United States:
I've been told THE WIRE, but unfortunately I haven't seen it, so I don't know how accurate this is. Though, you guys have a version of SKINS so this might give you an idea also. BOYZ N THE HOOD might also be a good comparison.

The Ten Commandments say do not kill. Jesus says love your neighbor as yourself. Reconciliation escapes me. Would I want to lie there gurgling and dying slowly in a swamp of old age and disease when a simple injection could hasten the process painlessly if not euphorically? Could there be a better way to go than by tripping on the doctor´s heroin? Or would I want the second chance, the last ditch effort to be saved, to be able to open my eyes and see the beautiful world around me one last time even if set amongst the stage of misery? Often at these moments the world reveals its most beautiful form. At these times the senses sizzle with an acuity that no opiate high could ever duplicate. The blue sky. The grassy knoll. The face of one you love.

Hi Ginger, I hope you enjoy the read. Ossard tends to appeal more to people who don't read fantasy or who've read a lot of it and are looking for something different to the formula tales that make up so much of the genre.
