What are you reading?

I am reading Along Came A Spider. After that I am going to pick up Angels by Marian Keyes.

I decided before I jumped into Emily Giffin for the first time, to try a Jane Green book. I borrowed Babyville from my sister and I have found that I am now sucked in and can't stop reading it. As I sit at work I find myself wishing I had it with me!

I'm reading Baby Proof by Emily Giffin. I really like and and was kind of surprised that it did not go along with Something Borrowed and Something Blue. But, it reminds me of my husband and I (though, our views are reversed).

I loved Baby Proof! Very good book!

I agree! I finished it in two days. I could have read it in one sitting if I had time. I love Emily Giffin.

I am reading Holly Would Dream by Karen Quinn. So far it is excellent...the best chick lit book I've read all year!

Ohh Jenn I have that one sitting on my shelf. I bought it because I loved The Ivy Chronicles by Karen Quinn. I also bought Wife in the Fast Lane - I started reading it but I was in school and could never find time to pick it back up. There are so many choices for what to read it's overwhelming! (As my bf always says - stop buying books when there are a million to read at home!)

Haha Kourtney - my husband says that to me all the time! "Why do need to buy more books?!" when my shelf is full of ones I have yet to read. I just hear about all these exciting ones that sound so good, and I want to get a copy of them before I forget about them :)

I'm making good on my promise to read more classics right now and reading The Good Earth. I'm actually really liking it...sad story, though!

Yesterday Border's sent me a coupon for 30% off 1 book and me being a sucker bought Swapping Lives and Straight Talking. Today I got a 40% off coupon and bought Second Chance. I'm on a Jane Green kick all because my sister let me borrow Babyville and I fell in love!

I love Jane Green! Have you read Jemima J? I think it was her first book and it's definitely on my favorites list!

I read both Swapping Lives and Second Chance recently and enjoyed both of them. You'll have to post what you think of them.

And, it sounds like I need to join the Borders rewards program! Those were some nice coupons!

I haven't read Jemima J yet but my friend is (hopefully) going to let me borrow it. Ack so much reading to catch up on!!!

Kourtney, I finished "The Next Thing on My List" last night. It was a good book but not the best I've ever read. I felt like she didn't develop the character's fully enough in the book and I frequently picked it up and questioned who each character was. I liked the idea behind the book with the list, though.

Ooohh that doesn't bode well for me reading it in my immediate future. But judging from my "to-read" shelf and the fact that I am now reading 5 books at once (commitment issues?) I think I'll be ok :) Thanks for letting me know!!

It's easy really - find 2 books that you are only vaugely interested in reading so when they get boring you put them down and pick up a new book. Read a book for a book club and then borrow 2 books from friends/relatives that you need to return quickly and WHAM-O you are now reading 5 books :)

I just finished Shoe Addicts Anonymous. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the best book I've ever read. I seem to have a hard time keeping up with multiple characters at times and often question who is who.

Now I'm reading Love the One Your With by Emily Giffin. I've read her first three books and love her. I'm only about 100 pages in but so far, so good! :)

I am now reading One for the MOney by Janet Evanovich. It is so funny. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

I just finished "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" which is the first book I really haven't cared for in a while.

So, now I'm off in the complete opposite direction reading "Secrets of a Former Fat Girl." It would be a great story for someone just starting out on a fat loss journey. However, since I'm well into mine and have a gym full of extremely helpful staff members, most of the information is old news to me. I am enjoying the authors reflection on her journey though. It reminds me a lot of my own!

I've just started Manhunting by Jennifer Crusie. It's the first book I've read by her and am really liking it so far!

I just finished "Mr. Maybe" by Jane Green. It was my first Jane Green book, however, I was not impressed at all. The book was a little dated, but I thought the plot was too predictable. My favorite chicklit is still "Something Blue" by Emily Griffin. Any recommendations....?

Have you read "Something borrowed"? Griffin also wrote "Love the One Your With," but I don't think it's as good as the other two.

Erin, I love Marian Keyes, too...I don't think there's a book I've read by her that I didn't like! My absolute favorite of hers is Anybody Out There.

I just started Meg Cabot's Size 14 Is Not Fat Either this morning. Not far enough in to tell whether I like it or not...the first one was just alright for me, but I have to finish the series!

I've had really bad luck with Cabot's chicklit - which makes me sad because I love her young adult novels - and she has the funniest blog on the internet - I seriously cry laughing at times.

The only Keyes book I'm not fond of is Rachel's Holiday (the rehab book) - I like it more now that I know Marian had a drinking problem and that parts are a bit biographical, but still - not enough fun for me!

I'm currently reading Little White Lies by Gemma Townley. It started out slow and is progressively getting better but I'm still not sure about it. I'm hoping the ending makes up for it!

Kristen, have you tried Sophie Kinsella or Lauren Weisberger? I'm a huge Meg Cabot fan, too.

I am currently reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, (which is not chicklit), so I wont talk about it :)

If you read Kinsella - Start with Confessions of a Shopaholic. That's the first in the series.

I'm reading The Smart One and the Pretty One right now, & I would recommend it.

I like Kinsella's non-shopaholic books best - Can You Keep a Secret and Undomestic Goddess are great!

I read "Something Borrowed" a few years ago and really liked it. I have Emily Giffin's other books on my "To-Read" list :)

I am currently reading Stupid and Contagious by Caprice Crane...holy smokes I was not expecting to like the book so much! I love the way the author bats the one story back and forth so you see it from one point of view then the other. It cracks me up! Highly recommend :)

Kristen- If it helps I love Jane Green and didn't really care for Mr. Maybe. You should read Babyville, Jemima J, The Other Woman, or To Have and to Hold. The Beach House is good too.

I really enjoyed The Queen of Babble Series and the Heather Wells series both by Meg Cabot.

I have read both Angels and Anybody Out There by Marian Keyes and loved them.

I love Jane Green too. Jemima J is one of my fave books of all time :) I've read the others, but found To Have and To Hold pretty depressing.

I love all of the Harry Potter books! I am working my way through all the Jane Austen books because I love the movies/mini-series. I've read Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion. I'm working on Mansfield Park...Northanger Abbey is next.

I'm having trouble figuring out what books to read next. I thought I would try The Gatecrasher by Madeline Wickham but that didn't work out. So I started reading Fashionistas but now I've set it down and can't find the energy to pick it back up again...now I can't decide!!! YIKES!

I've read Chasing Harry Winston & I don't think it's as good as her other two, The Devil Wears Prada or Everyone Worth Knowing.

Ugh, that stinks Christine. I really liked her first two.

Chasing Harry Winston started out promising. There were a couple of scenes in the middle that I thought could be cut out of the book, because they didn't further plot or develop character, but overall, the book was a good read. It is just different than The Devil Wears Prada, which had a break-neck tone to carry you through but which also exhausted you as a reader (at least it did for me). Chasing Harry Winston had more of a luxurious flow to it, much like a vacation sipping mai tais on the beach and curling your toes in the sand while trying not to burn from the heat.

Let me know what you think when you're done.

Oh, by the way, I'm reading a couple of books at the same time right now:

The Great Gatsby - a refresher on an old classic,

Hold Me Tight - an exploration book that I am reading with my husband,

and Marley and Me - a tale I am sharing with my daughter.

I am going to the library later today to pick up a couple of books about gambling, corporations, and politics to supplement my research for my next novel.

Then I'll be going back to pleasure reading again.

That's sad about Chasing Harry Winston - I had such high hopes. I'll be reading that soon. Right now I'm cruising through The Next Thing on my List. Good story so far!
