We are only going to have one thread each week and you will need to respond to all three prompts on this one thread (instead of three). Let’s give it a try. Jared Woodstrom (jaredwoodstrom) | 5 comments I am reading the book helter skelter. I like the book so far and its about charlie manson and his murders but they are in court now in my book. I Thought You Were Dead Ummmmmm No uniforms are dumb. They dont let us express ourselfs if we wear uniforms

Cassy!(; | 4 comments Weekly update:
I am currently reading the book Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer. In this book the main character is Bella Swan. At the moment Bella has just been up all night watching vampires and werewolves practice fighting.
Weekly activity: The Boots My Mother Gave Me by Brooklyn James
Weekly discussion:
I think having uniforms wouldn't be a big deal as long as they weren't ugly. I think they are totally unnecisarry. It would make student rebel even more and break more rules so it would be totally pointless. Also they might make students feel uncomfortable.

message 4: by Brady (new)

Brady Lain | 7 comments I am currently reading Tarzan. The plot is starting thicken. Tarzan is now the king of the apes. There is a new tribe that has moved into the ape's area.

I entered to win Bumped (Bumped, #1) by Megan McCafferty

I think that school uniforms are a bad idea. First of all, everyone would hate them and be mad to come to school. Plus, if you force kids to wear something it will just make them want to wear something else instead. School uniforms would just cause trouble in the school.

I am currently reading The New Cool by Neal Bascomb. It is about the FIRST Robotics Competition. I am not far in the book but so far I know it's about a team in California.

Weekly Activity
I entered to win Potsdam Station by David Downing.

Weekly Discussion
I believe uniforms are a good and bad thing. They are good because then people would dress appropriately. On the other hand they are a bad thing cause a lot of people like to dress how they feel. It doesn't worry me anyway.

message 6: by Garrett (new)

Garrett | 4 comments I am reading "The Reptile Room". The main characters are Violet, Klause, and Sunny. Violet is 15 and has long brown hair. Klause is 12 and loves reading. Sunny is 1 and bites everything.

Brandi Travis | 2 comments My current book is A Million Little Pieces. James Frey is the main character in this book, he is a criminal, an alcoholic, and a drug addict. James Frey is in treatment so he can try to get better and so he doesn't die within a few hours of doing drugs. He met some people while he was in treatment. He met some girls and also some guys. The guys were not aloud to talk to the girls and the girls were not aloud to talk to the guys.A Million Little Pieces

message 8: by Nathan (last edited Apr 13, 2011 07:06AM) (new)

Nathan | 6 comments I am currently reading the The Brooklyn Nine The main character is Felix he is nice and good at baseball. So far he got into a baseball game and got into a fight.

I picked where Things Come Back.
Where Things Come Back

I don't think its a good idea because if they do it, it will turn into a big argument. It will cost more money for the school and won't have enough money for academics and sports for the people that. I don't like it because everyone will look the same.

message 9: by Zach (new)

Zach Ripka | 4 comments My current book is Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone. He is currently at home with his terrible relatives because his parents were killed. He is waiting to go to Hogwarts Wizard School. Harry Potter is the main character and he is smart, strong, and independent.

The book I would like to win is Strongheart, it looks very interesting.

I think uniforms would make the school look more formal and better, but it would be hard for everyone to get used to it and most people would hate it. SRRHS would be rebelious.

message 10: by Mitch (new)

Mitch Hartkopf | 7 comments i am reading catching fire. right now in the book katniss fell out of a tree and needs her ankle to heal before she makes any plans or does anything. Katniss is the main character in this book she is an strong girl trying to provide for her family after the death of her father.

Kings of the Dead

i don't think school uniforms are a good idea. all that the uniforms are is a power trip, yes you get kids in uniforms but they will still bag there pants and such. i dont think it would change SRRHS much except for the respect level the students give some of the staff.

message 11: by Kelsey M. (last edited Apr 14, 2011 09:30AM) (new)

Kelsey M. Miller | 7 comments 1. Right now I'm reading "Message in a Bottle" by Nicholas Sparks. Theresa is the main character and right now she is vacationing on the East Coast with a friend. While jogging on the beach, Theresa found a message in a bottle. She read it and it's a love note that she finds very emotional. Theresa is a single mom who divorced three years ago. She is 36 years old and very athletic.
2.Imaginary Girls
3. I think uniforms are a bad idea because wearing your own clothes expresses your personality. It would change SRR because I think people wouldn't be so mean to each other if everybody wore the same thing. I wouldn't like them because then I wouldn't get to go school shopping and I would never get to wear all the clothes I buy.

Cole " JACKED" Neeser (ColeJACKEDNeeser) | 3 comments im reading brians winter im not very far in to it in on page 20 and he is with his dog walking in the woods. i picked the boots my mother gave me. i dont like school uniforms cause people should were what they want and i would not like it my self .

message 13: by Rhiannon (new)

Rhiannon | 4 comments I'm still reading Heroes of WW II by Edward F. Murphy and it doesn't have a main character, and i'm am on the part when the allies are invading Germany

message 14: by Molly.k (last edited Apr 14, 2011 05:18AM) (new)

Molly.k Koprek | 7 comments I am currently still reading the "Legacy" by Kate Brian. Right now in the book they just got done having a party. Dash came to the party to see Reed because she wasn't answering his emails so he got worried. But when they went for a talk Reed told him they are just friends. The Billings girls, Josh, and Gage are all worried because everyone from the other school all got their invites to the Legacy but they didn't get theirs yet. The main character in the book is Reed. She is kinda crazy, she always thinks things are happening to her, but she is also very caring for others.
What Happened to Goodbye What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen .
I don't think kids would like school uniforms. They would just get mad they have to wear them and would try to make them their style. I think there could end up being more problems then with the dress code because so many kids would be trying to break it. I think we should stay the way we are and not go to uniforms.

message 15: by Nicole (last edited Apr 17, 2011 01:00PM) (new)

Nicole | 7 comments 1. I am currently reading Ominous (Private, #13) by Kate Brian . My book just ended very intensely. Reed was about to killed by Cheyenne's mom when the police came bursting in. Everything was fine and she was being taken away when she grabbed a knife and flung it at Reed. Reed couldn't move and was about to die when Noelle's dad took the knife right in the chest for her. The book ended and I don't know if he will survive or not. Reed Brennan is a smart and brave girl. She never backs down to people who are trying to hurt her and always knows what to do.

2. What Happened to Goodbye What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen

3.I don't think most kids would like school uniforms. It would be good because kids who don't have the coolest clothes or can't afford them would "fit in" and have the same clothes as everyone else. It would be bad because kids wouldn't be able to express themselves, if everyone was wearing the same exact thing how would you know what ones own style was? If SRRHS had school uniforms I think their would be a huge uproar of people against it. It would cause many more problems then the few problems we have with inappropriate outfits now.

steph :D Taszarek (stephaniemegantaszarek) | 5 comments I' m starting to the book Walk to Remember. So far in book, Landon needs to find a date for prom. Every girl is taken already, so he's lowers his standards... Jamie Sullivan. Jamie accepts going to prom with him only if he promises he won't fall in love with her. The main character is Landon in my book. he is your trouble-maker with a soft heart.

I entered to win: The Deadly Sister

-I don't think we should have school uniforms.I think if we had uniforms we wouldn't be able to express our personalities. Having uniforms would probably start more problems, by people trying to break the dress the code and students losing respect to the school. I think SRRHS should stay a normal public school without uniforms.

message 17: by Molly (new)

Molly Martinson | 7 comments Molly- 4-15-11 week 3

I am still reading Winter Girls. In my book the main character's name is Lea, and she is preparing for her friend Cassie's funeral. Right now Lea is visiting the motel room that Cassie died in. It is very hard for her and she can't do it. She has to turn around and forget she even went to the motel. With Cassie's funeral coming Lea still isn't taking care of herself. Will she be next? I will have to keep reading and find out.

Lea the main character is a girl with problems. She doesn't admitt who her family is and she just doesn't take care of herself. She doesn't eat enough food to get her through the day. She seems depressed all the time.

Blink & Caution by Tim Wynne-Jones I choose this book! Looks interesting!

I think uniforms are are a horrible idea. It's hard enough to get students to come to school with wearing just their normal clothes. What makes the school board think we would want to come to school in uniforms? Another reason is our school is so cold. The uniforms they give us may not be warm enough. Then what do we do? Freeze!
I think it would change Sauk Rapids- Rice Highschool by making students not want to come to school, so there would be a lot more skipping. Then grades would start to slip. That's why I think school uniforms are a bad idea.

message 18: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 7 comments 1. Right now I am reading Red Midnight by Ben Mikaelsen and I just started it. The main character is Santiago Cruz and he is 12 years old. He has two younger brothers and two sisters, he is the oldest. So far, soldiers have come to their village in Guatemala and burned it down, killing a lot of people. Santiago and his sister, Angelina are the only survivors. Their goal is to sail to the United States to tell people of this horrible night.
2. Between Here and Forever
3. I think uniforms are a bad idea because they would just cause too many problems with breaking dress codes. I think a lot people would hate to come to school dressed like everybody else because we like to express our OWN style. I wouldn't like them because wearing our own style of clothes is a way to express our personality and I think I would get sick of wearing the same style of clothing everyday. It would change SRR because I think people would rebel and it would start a lot of problems, so it would just be pointless.

message 19: by Adam (new)

Adam Block | 7 comments 1) i am reading a book called Princess Ben Princess BenIm not very far into t so i cant sayu much about it besides that, obviously, Ben is the main character.
2)The book i registered for is called Gravemind.
3)I think uniforms are a bad thing because they dont let people express theirselves openly. It also makes everything boring and lifeless. I say no to uniforms!!!

Taylor Biskey | 7 comments Weekly Update:
I am currently reading Angel - Free Preview First 23 Chapters A Maximum Ride Novel by James Patterson and The Romanovs the Final Chapter by Robert K. Massie . In Angel so far Max has started falling for Dylan. Max's sister and sort of brother Iggy get hypnotised by an evil group. Fang and Max's flocks have to work together to stop the Doomsday Group. In the Romanovs the bodies were found by two people, but then they kept it a secret until one guy told the media. Then the bodies were officially dug up and investigated.
Weekly Activity:
The book i entered to win is What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
Weekly Discussion:
I think school uniforms would be bad for our school, but they could also be good. I think that they could be bad for our school because people would have to buy a whole new wardrobe for school, and there would be a lot of dress code violations. I would not like to come to school dressed like everyone else because you should have the freedome to dress how you want to dress. I think that it would be a good idea too because it could cause people to not be so revealing. It could cause school to become more controllable. Overall for me I would not like to see uniforms during my school career.

message 21: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Travis | 2 comments I think that school uniforms would just make it where people would not even wear the uniforms and just where street clothes because they would not want to wear the uniforms. I would hate to have school uniforms because that would mean I would not be able to wear my street clothes ecept for on weekends and after school.
