Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments Oh, do try it. My favorite of her books are The Bridei Chronicles starting with The Dark Mirror, but I think most of her fans love the Sevenwaters series the best and it is a close call. (my favorite Sevenwaters book is the second one, Son of the Shadows but again close call) They are all in the 4th or 5th century in Britain/Ireland....The Druids, the Old Religion, the Priestesses, the faery.

I read Witches first and loved it!!! I came across a reader recommendation - you know the kind, "If you like this, then you'll like..." - about Outlander. Ooohhh myyyy! I am seriously obsessed with Jamie and Claire now. Seen all the YouTube movies and read and watched everything I can get my hands on about Culloden, clan Fraser, and the Highlands Clearances. And it's only been 2 weeks!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments I have not put down The Winter Sea since I picked it up yesterday and am nearly finished with it. I cried for ten pages about ten minutes ago and need a break. It's beautiful. I liked it right away but didn't LOVE it until farther in when I really got into the second story. Then I was totally caught up in it and read last night until I could no longer see the pages. It is the story about a writer writing a book - it's her in Scotland while she is doing it but also the story that is coming to her in a way she does not understand (nor do I but I am not finished yet). It's Scottish history for sure....I need to run out and do my chores and then finish it.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments Finished The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley

I loved it. No, it's not Outlander, but it's Scotland, beautifully written (I read all of Mary Stewart's books many years ago and the writing is similar in some ways), I would say extremely well researched. Part of the story is Carolyn's story (she is a writer) and part of it is the story she is writing based 300 years earlier with the heroine being her ancestor. It's two romances, one in the present and one in the past. I gave it five stars. It's just a beautiful story. Keep tissues close by though.

Carren Kay | 953 comments On a completely different format, I've been ready Karen Marie Monings "Darkfever" series. While not great, they are an easy read. Problem is once I get going on a series I usually finish them.
The only reason I started was because I had a 40% off coupon at Border's and thought, why not? And everytime I got another coupon, I bought the next book.

Leea | 1239 comments KMM Fever series is really good but vastly different than Outlander. Mac is an amazing character transformation to watch and Moning builds this whole different world. The good thing about this series is all the books are out and so you can get some closure. Me I had to wait for the final book - it was painful.

Carren Kay | 953 comments All the Fever books that I have are in paperback form. The final book is hardcover. I'm not sure if I can wait for it to come out in paperback. If I get another coupon, maybe I'll get it.

Teresita A | 531 comments I just finished reading THE TEA ROSE and the sequel to it THE WINTER ROSE and I thought they were GREAT. But I liked the first one better (The Tea Rose). I could not put that book down. At one point I was up til 2am reading it because the main characters were separated for a long time and Like Jamie and Claire in Outlander's VOYAGER I wanted to read til they were reunited or saw each other again. I am so glad I read these books.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments I put The Tea Rose on my tbr list.

I'm very annoyed that I can't find a nook version for "The White Mare" dying to read it :(

Glad you mentioned this!! I still have not been able to get into The Tea Rose. Will give it another shot!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments I recently finished The Winter Seaand did a review - gave it five stars.

Leea | 1239 comments I loved "the White Mare" but I read it in paperback.. good luck finding in in ebook form.
* I know Terry did not like it as much :)

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments I didn't hate it but it was kind of boring. It had similarities to the Marillier books which I love and just did not measure up to them at all for me - same era - Druids and priestesses and I like that theme.

And the Tea Rose HAS gotten better! :)

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 292 comments Just finished On a Highland Shore and it is good. A time period before Outlander but it is Scotland and a good story. I did a review.
