Hmmm I don't recall anything from the LOTR that fits perfectly. Would a quote about elven immortality from The Silmarillion work?

I at least acknowledge your shared space, time & existence. There's only so far my mind can stretch, what with its ADD-ness or drug-seeking or reading of Flannery O'Connor.
I'm currently writing an essay for my course on The Lord of the Rings, and I know roughly what quote I want to use (unless I'm imagining it lol) but I can't actually find it in the book, and it's incredibly frustrating. I figured there'd be plenty of people here who've read Lord of the Rings, and I'm hoping that someone might very kindly help me out if they have a better memory than I do!
The quote I'm looking for is about the Elves, something along the lines of how they don't change but the world around them does. I think it's a comment Legolas makes at some point, but I can't remember the context. I do realise that's rather vague lol. Otherwise, anything that says the Elves are unchanging or that time doesn't touch them etc would work!
