When you went to Hawaii, there were a lot of TOURISTS with flowers in their hair. it's tacky and nobody does it in Hawaii. Except for tourists and paid actors/dancers.

I was, like, six when I first went to Hawaii, and mom insisted I put a flower in my hair. It was, like, an orange hibiscus, and against my black hair it was so cool. I was a cute little kid. But whenever I go to Hawaii, it's leis, not flowers in the hair.

Here in Hawaii, the graduates get leis all the way up to their foreheads. :33 It's so cool, it's like they're drowning. but, I'm confused. My dad says that on the Mainland, people don't GET leis. So what DO they get?

I'm not offended, but how is graduation THERE. I've grown up with ONe kind of graduation- Leis, leis, and leis. honestly. After the main gradutaion, we have maybe an hour or so to walk around the field and pass out leis. It's fun. :3

I'm graduating (high school) this week. We get caps and gowns--but not primary colors, they're our school colors. If you have a high GPA you also get "honors cords" to hang about your neck, and if you participated in National Honor Society you get a "stole"--kind of like a banner you wear. We have it in this arena at the local university, and under our gowns we're supposed to dress formally. The focus, I guess I would say, is to be really formal--we're going to be "adults" now, and it's a huge honor and very, very formal. BUT afterwards, at night, if you buy a ticket, you can go to the "GRADUATING SENIORS ALL-NIGHT PARTY"...which is pretty self-explanatory. I heard they have a mechanical bull.

Well, usually after someone throws a party at their house or something. And, Fish hooks is a very strange show, just saying.

Well... Why on earth would you make such a happy occasion, that took maybe fourteen years of school, into something that nobody likes? You ruin expensive dresses, and.. hoenstly...

But, yeah. My sister, this year, got a white cap and gown with some teal stuff. She got a golden honor cord, but i'm not sure about the stole thing.. She was in NHS, also. She also had that triangle thingy- I forget the technical term- for being both summa Kum Laude and Valedictorian. The guys wore black gowns and caps.

After the ceremony, we walked around the field, and many people had giant signs with a picture of them and their name, and then everybody got tons of leis. And I saw my teacher playing with a little boy and a pink inner tube. :/
