You must click on see "all" to see all the folders/the POSSIBLY SOLVED folder.

Whether a post ended up in UNSOLVED or POSSIBLY SOLVED was a bit of a capricious decision on my part; I was mostly trying to clear out the general folder.

So:

If you want to help find books check both folders and if you've started a book search please return and respond to any suggestions.

I am still thinking we could use an ORPHANED (other named?) folder for posts not in the various SOLVED folders that have seen no activity for a year or more.

I'll now help to keep up with this board: putting solved and changing folders/putting post in unsolved vs. the general folder if posters do not do so and also adding found books to the proper bookshelves.

This is one of my favorite groups on Goodreads so it's been a pleasure to help out.

I like your idea for an ORPHANED folder. I'd been toying with the idea of an "unsolved mysteries" folder for the super tricky threads that go unsolved for a long time. Maybe we could call them COLD CASE FILES? I was thinking that if a thread isn't solved after x-amount of time from when it was originally posted it would get moved to the COLD-CASE-FILES. This is a little bit different than your suggestion for measuring recent activity. I think both approaches have merit. Which method do you think would work best?

Thanks for your last sticky post. It's very clear and more likely to be read by members than the group description.

I think any name for the folder would be fine as long as it is clear to everyone what it is (COLD-CASE-FILES is good.)

I think from the time of original posting would be ok, as long as we could be flexible if there happened to be a lot of recent activity or if it was recently bumped. Either would work but I think we should have a separate folder; otherwise the UNSOLVED folder will accumulate too many queries and will be unmanageable.

Edit: I do think any bumps should count as a new post. I finally found a book through this group that took many months to find!

I think that's a great idea, and anyone can look through it whenever they have time.

Hello - i'm new to the computer and know this is the wrong place BUT can anyone help me find a book that was small perhaps 4x6 - the only thing I remember was that one of the characters stands under a parking garage gate (he's supposed to be Jesus - I think) and the gate is like the cross but he's a homeless hobo??? thanks.

I can't seem to move a single post from one folder to another folder, and I don't think you'll be able to do so either.

In the future. When you click on new to start a new post, on that page there's a drop down menu that says select in it. If you click on that scroll down and stop at UNSOLVED and your post will go into the UNSOLVED folder which is where it belongs. Member should still see your post as long as they click unread posts.

But, you can re-post using the above directions and delete this one. Copy your text and past in the new post if you know how to do so.

Brenda, And other members, How would you feel if I and the other moderators copied and pasted such book requests into a new post in the correct folder, including a link to the posting members' profiles and saying the post request is theirs? Then, messages in the incorrect folders could be deleted.

Lisa, sounds like extra work for you, but I would certainly be in favor of it. I totally understand "neat and tidy" organizational impulses.

Stephanie, I don't mind. I just want to make sure Brenda and anyone else knows where/how to look for their thread. And posting in the incorrect folder doesn't really happen that frequently; I don't think it would be a huge amount of work.

Also, if posts are in the wrong place, they won't be read by as many people and will have a slimmer chance of getting solved.

Luann, I know. Very good point. Of course, when I go to all my groups the first thing I do at the group's home page is click on the "unread" link, so all new (unread by me) posts in all folders show, but I don't know how many members do that.

Same here. Except in this group I can't keep up with all the new posts - and I also haven't made it through all the old ones yet. So when I do have time to read posts here, I pick and choose based on the title of the topic - trying to choose the ones I think I would have the best chance of knowing.
