Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Members who have posted searching for a book and members who would like to help out by finding books for others, please check the folders frequently.

I just worked for a couple of hours moving posts to various solved and to the unsolved folder. Many queries have so far gotten no replies.

Now (and in the near future as I and the other moderators work to clean up this site) is an opportune time to peruse the posts/folders again.

Thanks so much for all of your help. This group is a huge contribution to Goodreads. I'm so glad that Rebecca thought of it and started it.

It may take some time to get completely organized but once we do it won't take too much effort to keep things organized.

Edit: Also, many books may be found but the original posters have not returned to check responses, so, if you could all do that, it would be very much appreciated.

Luann (azbookgal) | 34 comments Great job, Lisa - and all those helping to clean up the boards here! Such a great idea for a group. I can see from the posts that a lot of people have been helped! When I first joined this group I had a book I'd been trying to remember for a long time, but I did one more search online before posting here and I happened to find the book. So I was helped just by the fact that this group existed. :) I've also been reminded of some books that I've read in the past or that I want to read as I've been going through the posts here. Anyhow, this is just a long way of saying thank you! This is a valuable group, which will be even more valuable as the posts are organized.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Luann, I've worked on organizing them for about 3 hours today. There's probably that much more time left, at least. Not including adding books to the bookshelf. Then, it will be easy to organize as we go.

Yes, this is a great group. Members have found a few books from my requests, I've helped people find some books, and like you I have remembered books I've read or found books I want to read because of others' posts. Rebecca had the best idea to start this group!

Luann (azbookgal) | 34 comments I can help out with adding books to the bookshelf. I assume they all go onto the read shelf - in addition to whichever genre shelf is appropriate. I'll go add a few now.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Luann, That would be great! I think you need to somehow check to make sure the books you add aren't already there as I do think one can add duplicates. Thanks so much!

Yes, I'd put them all on the read shelf. Plus the shelf to which they belong:

children
or
adult-fiction
or
young-adult
or
non-fiction

Luann (azbookgal) | 34 comments I added a few. I'll try to add some more tomorrow. I checked through the list before I added any to make sure I didn't duplicate what someone else had already added.

I noticed that it either gave me a message to "add to group: What's The Name of That Book???" or "edit shelves: What's The Name of That Book???" when I searched. So I thought that books with the "edit" message were already on the group bookshelf. But when I searched the shelves to make sure that was the case, I didn't always find the book there. I also checked the Goodreads page for that book since it should show up in the "groups with this book" box, and it wasn't there either. So I'm pretty sure I didn't add any duplicates.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Luann, I would think when it says edit that it means the book is on the shelves but maybe not. Thanks for adding books!

Whenever you (anyone) can add a few/even one, that would be helpful.

Once things are cleaned up it will be easy to add the newly found books if the posters don't do so themselves.

Luann (azbookgal) | 34 comments I thought so to about the "edit" message, but I didn't always find the book there. Most of the time, yes, but not always. Weird, huh?

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Luann, I'm wondering if instead of on the read shelf those books are on the other default shelves. You have to click each shelf separately to see which books are on them. (I learned this in my book club group here.)

message 10: by Luann (new)

Luann (azbookgal) | 34 comments I learned that in one of my other groups, too. :) The group shelves act a little differently than our personal shelves in that respect. This group is easy for that, though. There are no books on the currently-reading shelf, and only two on the to-read shelf. Everything else is on the read shelf.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Yes, That is helpful. NOT like my book club.

message 12: by Molly (new)

Molly I went through and categorized any books already on the Read shelf that weren't already and then added any from the Other and NF Solved Folders that weren't already on the shelves. I never know the names of any of the books people are looking for so I thought I could at least help organize what have been found.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Thanks Molly.

Luann (azbookgal) | 34 comments Great job, Molly! I never even thought of that.

It's amazing what's happened with this group in just the past week! Many hands make light work.
