Valora turned to look up at John. "Pretend we're all frozen until they break down the door and rush in here, then we have them at all angles and can trap them."

"Oh." Valora hadn't even noticed the water until he mentioned it. "True. Well they're going to break in soon, so we need to come up with a plan."
Valora's eyes widened, and she jumped down into the floor below. Landing with a light thud, crouched slightly, but ready to climb back up the ladder at a seconds notice.
Valora blinked up at him, and moved a hand to her head. "Owwww...." she mumbled. Seriously, banging her head twice against metal.... probably not a good thing....
Valora looked up at the door as she rubbed the back of her head, wincing a little. "....It's a door......" Why that was so special, she couldn't think up at the moment.
Valora wandered back to the ladder, stumbling occasionally in the dark and because she was a little dizzy from banging her head pretty hard twice. "Daddy! It's safe to come down!" She called as she reached the bottom of the ladder.
Her dad came down, and patted Valora's head a little. "You need to keep quite, princess.""Oh..." Valora frowned, eyes going teary. "Sorry daddy!" She hugged him.
"ssssh. It's fine, let's go." He headed over to the door.
Valora reached John, and looked over at all the guns. "Ooooooooooooooh. That's a lot of guns!" She walked into the room. Her dad frowned a little and sighed. "Wow... she's so different..... How long has it been?" He looked over at John.
He frowned as he calculated how long he'd been gone as he walked back to the ladder and told everyone else to come on down. Valora sat down in the middle of the room. As glad as she was that they had guns, she didn't want to use them.
Hearing silence, then the quite sound of several pairs of feet hurrying to the ladder, Valora backed up a little. "Daddy?"
"Then where is he?!" Valora asked, panicking. She just got her dad back, and to loose him again after everything else that had happened would probably drive her mind over the edge and to insanity....
Valora climbed up the ladder, and just froze in shock. Every one of the people were dead. Brutally murdered. The aliens had made it through, and were running towards them.
Valora didn't move, her breathing somewhat labored and her limbs shaking. "Daddy....." She whispered as she stared at his dead body. The aliens were about to reach her.
Valora didn't answer. She just stared at the blood pooling on the ground as it dripped down the ladder. An alien reached her, and shot at her with his tazer(sp?) gun.
Valora manged to duck out of the way, and she collapsed at the base of the ladder. The aliens backed away from the hatch and started shooting at him.
Valora numbly plugged her ears at the sound of the screams and the bangs. She watched as the slow, steady drip that had been making its way down here slowly started to increase into a small, steady drizzle of blood. Valora curled up into a ball on the ground, ignoring the blood dripping down and splashing onto her clothes.
Valora started crying as she stumbled along behind him. Everything she knew and liked about life had gone with the bombing of her town. Then she had found her dad and had her world bright again. But he was gone now. She'd lost her happy little world twice and would really rather die. She had nothing to look forward to at all. It was messing with her head.
Valora just shrugged, not saying anything. He would tell her to snap out of it and find the silver lining. The bad was always followed by the good. But he was dead. It's not like there was a single thing good about that. He was gone, and she wouldn't see him again.
"He would tell me to snap out of it and find the silver lining. Something good always follows something bad." She said quietly.
Valora started to scramble down the ladder. Wincing as a bullet hit her shoulder, but she bit back the pain and dropped to the floor below. She ran towards the closest ship.
"It's clearer then up there!" Valora found an old fire extinguisher, and used it to fend off an alien that was trying to hit her with his shock baton.
Valora glanced over at him as she threw the empty fire extinguisher at the alien. She then grabbed the keys off of the alien and unlocked the ship.
Valora sat down in the pilot seat, and started to get the thing moving. Not many knew it but she loved ships like this. She had been studying to become a pilot, and had had several years of lessons. The controls on this weren't that different then a plane. She pulled on a headset, then flipped on a switch that opened the door on the side of the large ship they were on. "Hold on John!" She turned the ship towards the door.
Valora ran back to her chair, blushing furiously. She slipped the headset back on and got the ship moving again.
With a slight lurch the ship made it out of the large ship. It dipped towards the ground for a few seconds until Valora let it glide up and away.
