I just added a POSSIBLY SOLVED folder

Fellow moderators,

I just added a POSSIBLY SOLVED folder.

There are quite a few queries where the responders seem sure they've found the correct book but the original poster has not returned to confirm one way or the other whether the correct book has actually been found.

the unsolved folder has so many posts, and as the group gets cleaned up there will be so many more. So, I thought if it seems plausible the correct book has been found we as moderators can at least temporarily put those threads in this new folder.

Any thoughts about this?

That sounds like a good way to handle those situations. Should we create an instructional thread to explain how it all works to new users? Maybe add a little blurb to the group description like "Be sure to check out the instructions thread if you are a new user"...? This might be a good idea since our whole system is getting more and more complex.

Of course, I've noticed in other groups, particularly in Goodreads Librarians, that you cannot count on members to read the group descriptions. But I still think it would be helpful.

Erin, Rebecca put the description, a great one, in the new sticky post in the general folder, which is an even better idea.

Here's a possible problem...the folder of the original thread can only be changed by the original poster, correct? If they have not yet replied to the post, they won't have had the chance to move it.

Morgen, The moderators can do it too. If two responders have said it's the same book and there's no one dissenting or if one person is absolutely sure it's a particular book, and the original poster hasn't responded to those possibilities, I and the other moderators can put those posts in the POSSIBLY SOLVED folder.
