Emma (emmapants) | 5 comments I noticed this because Joe McGinniss, Jr. sorts as "Jr., Joe McGinniss" instead of "McGinniss, Joe, Jr." On the other hand, Bill Martin, Jr. is listed as "Bill Jr. Martin", which isn't right either. Can there be a suffix field in the author listing, perhaps?

This is a known bug. When it (and the related sorting issues with two-part last names) will get fixed is unclear.

I fixed Bill Martin Jr.

Rdurie | 4 comments sorry to join this old thread, but what do you mean by you fixed Bill martin Jr.? It drives me nuts that the author sort doesn't work properly, ie sort by surname not suffix. thanks, Rob

As can be clearly seen in the change logs, she changed "Bill Jr. Martin" to "Bill Martin Jr."

MissJessie | 866 comments Is there any plan for a reasonably soon fix of this issue? It's been 1 1/4 years since it was mentioned first.

message 7: by Moloch (new)

Moloch | 3975 comments I would love a "sort by" field for authors...

message 8: by Kim (new)

Kim | 607 comments It's been a lot longer than 1 1/4 years. I'm pretty sure they've known about this issue since the start.

message 9: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 866 comments Makes the question even more pointed.
