Duplicate Author profile

First off, I'm not even sure if this is where this goes. If it isn't. Sorry. >_< I thought about adding it to one of the thread in the book discussion folder, but... I wasn't sure about that.


Here are two profiles for the same author:

It messes things up a bit because the same book [Back in Black] is on both author profiles, but they are separate entries in the system so none of the data is linked between them.

Basically that second profile, the duplicate, just needs taken out of the system. Or merged. Whatever is done with them.

I've moved the book to the correct author and merged it but I can't merge the authors because John G. Hartness is GoodReads author. Need someone with higher powers to either merge them or delete the invalid one.

Looks like these two were disambiguated for a reason, I moved the books that belonged to Byron^^Harmon to his profile, but I'm not sure the ones left here belong to him.

Paul Roberts, author of the Permanent Enemy series (found via giveaways ending today), seems to have two profiles that need to be merged. One, with only the first novel of the series on his profile as a book he has written, is a Goodreads author. The other, who has written MANY more books, including the second of this series, is not a Goodreads author. Higher power rivka, can you correct this? He may need to be contacted, but I'm not sure how you would go about doing it.

Actually, I'd send him a message first. Looks like the two versions of his name are attached to somewhat different categories of books -- the separation might be deliberate.

I see this fairly frequently on old books that have been scanned in by various companies for their historical value. Here is an extreme case where the author (Augusta Jane Evans Wilson) seems to have profile under every possible version of her name. The books I have( from the 1920s) list her as Augusta J. Evans on the title page. Should these all be merged, even though some of the books have new editions with Augusta Jane Evans on the cover?

Wikipedia lists her main name as Augusta Jane Evans so I combined them all, plus more I found under that name. I've also combined the various editions of her work.

Got 22. I merged the name into "Marthe Bibesco" and added some details to the profile. Titles and honorifics are not used on GR unless necessary to establish the person's identity.
