Worse than Fluke with the 2nd half living sea creature stupidty. Although first 1/2 was great.
Worse than You Suck? Really?
Hey to each their own, but don't thi..."
Sorry, did not mean to come across like an attack, I was just surprised. Hey its all taste, I loved Lust Lizard and my friend who likes Moore hated that book. All good bro!

You won't be disappointed if you pick this one up before next year. This is one of the best books I've read, even compared to other Christopher Moore novels.

Really enjoyed this, it lead me to read the other works of Mr. Moore. It is one to read over and over.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his stuff, but i couldn't finish Fluke. It was so bad.

Um, no, it doesn't suck at all. It is amazing and hilarious.

Moore included this anonymous quote & I think it sums up the book's humor perfectly:
Nobody's perfect - well there was this one guy, but we killed him.

When Moore mines old literature for material (the Bible, King Lear), he either hits a home run or strikes out. This is a home run!
Was excited to read Sacre Bleu, but half way though, just plumb ran out of yuks - like unplugging a record player mid-song.

I loved "Lamb" - "Practical Demonkeeping" was the first Moore book I read & really enjoyed it! And the best Hiaasen I have read was "Skinny Dip".

This novel has a strange turn around as it travels its literary road trying to find where this book belong's , I will say right now as it gets passed around it will be liked, hated, thrown away picked back up to get thrown again, many will say it is not Their's with a secret chuckle....some will claim the is one of the worst books they have seen, what I am saying is Everybody that reads this book will have an opinion, I suggest you read and find what your will be. =)

Author Christopher Moore could not have handled the subject of Jesus' lost years with more respect; especially to the person of Jesus Christ Himself.
Moore ends this incredibly entertaining work with an Afterward that touches on the vast research compost heap that the prior 402 pages grew out of. In one of the last paragraphs he states:
"This story is not and never was meant to challenge anyone's faith; however, if one's faith can be shaken by stories in a humorous novel, one may have a bit more praying to do."
Do not misunderstand me, this story, due more to sexual situations, than to spiritual taffy pulls, will never, ever, find its way to any Bible study group.
Reading Lamb would throw me into fits of uncontrollable laughter or simply see me shaking my head in wonderment over how brilliantly author Moore wove his story using the Bible, known historical fact, and just plain made-up stuff.
Unlike Gore Vidal's outstanding novel, Messiah, which was intended to be a thought-provoking work about a modern day Christ-like figure, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal, has no religious beliefs to crucify, disprove or vilify.
The meat of this book is involved with Jesus and Biff (given name Levi bar Alphaeus) tracking down, living with, and learning esoteric skills from each of The Three Magi who were at the manger-birth of Jesus. I recommend you read this book. I have put it on my list of all-time best books.
Begun: 05/19/2005 Finished: 06/26/2005

I would recommend reading "Bite Me" first. I think it's Moore's best works.

Try Sacré Bleu: A Comedy d'Art. It's about Van Gogh. I haven't read it yet, but it's his latest, and is supposed to be FANTASTIC. I have it on authority of many experienced readers. ;)
And, plus...MOORE ON VAN GOGH. This cannot end badly. Not possible.

@Sara & Debi,
I think it might be better to wait with Sacre Bleu and read his other books first.
