Jeanni:

Gutter was a great read, but that sucker is LONG! It was definitely a nice (and thorough, lol) follow up to Gangsta. Talks a lot about gang life in LA and NY. K'wan does his thing though..always.

Junnita Jackson | 2 comments Hi, My name is Junnita Jackson. I am the Author of If It Don't Hurt It Ain't Love. I have 5 copies of my book that I would like to give to anyone in this group that would like a copy. All I'm asking is that you read it and post an honest review about it. If you love it tell a friend also.
Anybody interested in one of the free copies please send me a message with your address to my inbox. First come first serve.

I would like a copy..what is it about tho?

Junnita Jackson | 2 comments Mary I inserted a review that gives some of the storyline w/out spoiling it.

If It Don't Hurt It Aint Love by Junnita Jackson tells three stories of love. First is Kat and Dante's story of what, I guess, one could call love, but if you let Kat explain the relationship she'd call it a business arrangement. He's rich, she's glamorous...what better mix could the world ask for? Dante is happy and waiting anxiously for the day to make Kat his wife, but what he hasn't been introduced to yet is her insatiable appetite for a new man (or woman for that matter) per day! Her promiscuity coupled with the guard around her heart will lead to an interesting day at the alter that not even the trickster of all tricksters could have predicted.

Next, Tamia's story is one of love gone too soon when she loses James the night their son was born, fourteen years ago. A tragic near-death experience will reunite Tamia with James in a world between earth and heaven, and she will fight tooth and nail to make their reunion last forever. It's not until their son Semaj redeems his mother and needs her support desperately that she will consider leaving.

(And now for my favorite character) Vatyra has tasted the sweetest love that a man can give a woman, but when things get too hot and heavy, Kevin's cold feet send him running away from love. Before he can give himself to her the way she unselfishly gives to him, he has to be sure. A few years later, the same feet that took him running away, will return him to seek the happiness only Vatyra can give him, but love doesn't come easy, especially when there's a crazy woman that will stop at nothing to "make him" hers.

Junnita Jackson's debut novel is an authentic start of her writing career. While some of the situations sound typical, the way she develops the story and the plot twists are definitely far from typical. The book started out kind of rocky for me as I was unsure after reading the first chapter if it was going to be read like a lot of books where the author thinks sex and a pooty mouth over the top main character is enough to hold the reader. I soon found out that was just the main character, Kat's, way of life. However, when Tamia's point of view comes into play in chapter two, and then especially when Vatyra's story was told, I was refreshed with how the story began to unfold. There was good character development with good background information provided throughout the book. I would be remiss if I did not mention minor editing mishaps here and there in the book, that definitely did not take away from the flow and my enjoyment of reading the book.

If It Don't Hurt It Aint Love is a quick read that can be read in 3-4 hours. If you are looking for a book full of erotic passion with interlocking stories of friendship, obsession, true love, and "material girl gets a wakeup call," this chick lit page-turner with an urban flair will quench your literary thirst. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens to Kat next in The Story Between My Legs.

For a debut publication, Junnita Jackson gets 4.5 approval stamps from ShaniReviews! Congratulations Junnita, keep your pen moving.
