I read this after seeing the film and quite enjoyed it. I won't comment more as I don't want to spoil it for you.
I have the sample downloaded on my Kindle, just haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I've added it to my Goodreads group Collection.

How much have your read?

Is it better or worse than the movie? I really loved the movie.

I haven't seen the movie yet. I did like the book, however, I found several of the characters to be fairly one dimensional, especially Sarah.
I want to read this one.. but I'm a bit frugal sometimes, honestly. I'm kind of trying to wait for it to come out on paperback since I've been seeing mixed reviews on it. :/ I usually only buy hardbacks if it's an author I know and read work from before, a series I've been following already (even though I hate the whole paperback and hardback mixing-up with my series' because I'm a perfectionist like that... but sometimes I can't wait for a certain installment to come out on paperback haha), or if I've gotten the hardback at a really cheap used price- but in still great condition. Unfortunately, since this is still a fairly new book, the used hardbacks for it aren't cheap enough for me to order. If I included shipping, the price would still be the same as if buying it brand new from the store, so I don't see the point there. Argh.
I know I'm going to read it eventually, though. :)

I noticed that most of the bad reviews don't really have a problem with the story itself, but instead the grammar and format. So, I am listening to it on audiobook. It's not that bad...

I finished this late last night, and enjoyed it more than I expected after hearing some negatives. I agree that there are weaknesses, but once I got into it, some of the characters grabbed me - I loved Bernie Kosar! - and I really liked the way the back story of Lorien was presented.
It was a really good read but wasn't as good as I expected. I will be reading the second one when it comes out, though.
I just finished it a while ago, haha. It's a nice book, and I like how Pittacus Lore is a part of the book -- I mean it was written that he's the Elder who came to Earth twelve years ago, right? :)
Okay, I have been listening to this on ebook, and I already saw the movie. The narrator bugs me, because of the voices. lol Is that bad that I am judging the book based on an audio book narrator? lol
