Yay! I'm excited to start this series...I've been putting it off for ages!

Ynas | 1 comments First romance novel I ever read! I LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE this.

Shellbelle | 161 comments I LOVE this series! It has fast became one of my fav, I might even go as far as saying I have enjoyed the last few of the series more than the last few of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books(which has been in my number 1 slot for a long time). I think it would be fun to go back and do a reread of A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole . However I suggest that to anyone who has not read The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole first! I didn't and I was confused a bit in later books:( It's an anthology in Playing Easy to Get by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Can't wait to see what everyone has to say about this book!
Happy REading:)

Kerith | 7 comments I have read all of the IAD and for me they are my favorite series, I mean my FAVORITE. I have not read the on in a while, so I will reread it and then partake in the discussion.

message 6: by AlbertaJenn (new)

AlbertaJenn Honestly, I really didn't care for this book. By the end of it, I just hated all the characters, and really didn't want to continue the series. He was a jerk, she was whiny, and her "aunts" were so self-absorbed!

And the near-rape scene wasn't sexy at all for me.

Just my two cents, and not meant to tread on anyone who did like it. :-)

It's too bad you didn't like it:( The Valkerie are def. self Absorbed!lol but when you read there books the become very endearing. They are some of my fav. heriones of all time. But I can see how some of these things turned you off. To be hones the first book was hard for me too, I didn't love Lachlain, but as I read the series, I fell in love with that overbearing Alpha attituted;)

Kerith | 7 comments I get what you are say AlbertaJenn, that first scene with them in the bathroom did rub me the wrong way. I wasn't a huge fan of Lachlain in the beginning. I read the one about Cade and Holly first, I think it was book 6. It helped because I understood that the Valkerie were (self absorbed kick-a** B*****) and Emma needed more time to come into her own during this book. Emma is the MOST whiny of all the heroines, and I don't think there are any other near-rape scenes in the other books. So if you, AlbertaJenn, do decide to give the series another try, you might have a good shot of liking the others much better. This series is not for everyone.

I really like them and find them a little funny, but not the near-rape scene, obviously.

. . . but you might not want to try the most recent one (dreams of a dark warrior). There is some torture, but not in a good sexy way . . .

I LOVED Cade and Holly's book! One of the best of the series for sure:) I agree that Emma was the most whiny of all the heroines, the rest are pretty Kick butt!

Kerith | 7 comments Shellbelle,

I loved that one. The way Cade is careful with Holly's OCD, so cute. That one and the fourth one about Bowen, are my favorite in the series. Ms. Cole cracks me up.

I know...the water bottles, and unopened food...So sweet! Bowen and Gareth are my fav. Lykaes! Got to love those accents;)

Kerith | 7 comments One of the funniest scenes in the A Hunger Like No Other is when Emma calls Nix from Lachlain's caste and Nix keeps hanging up on her. Meanwhile in the study with Lachlain and Bowen are watching the light on the phone go on and off. Nix works in . . . odd ways. Love her.

I love Nix too. Is she getting her own book in the series? Or is she too crazy? LOL!

Nix will be getting her own book, but Cole said it would be later in the series I think! She is hilarious!

Michelle Gilmore | 151 comments I posted this in another group, but I wanted to share it here to, in case anyone is interested.

This is from Kresely Cole's website:

"Audiobooks are coming! Readers have been asking for audiobooks for some time, and I'm delighted to announce that each book in the IAD series will be available in this format. Look for The Warlord Wants Forever, Hunger Like No Other, and No Rest for the Wicked this fall. Ordering info TBA this summer."

That is great. I am listening to Karen Marie Moning's Highlander Series now, which are fun, and I hope Ms. Cole has a male reader, too. Maybe Richard Armitage? He has read some Georgette Heyer novel, and he does such a beautiful job.

message 19: by Othena (new)

Othena This is one of my favorites of the series and this is third time I'm reading it. It's put me in the mood for a reread of the series.

*spoilers*
I didn't see Lachlin's actions as near rape. To me it was more that he had been tortured for so long holding out hope for her that he just couldn't control himself when he finally found her.
I loved the actual mating scene. wow.

I liked the conflict the hero suffered internally with her being a vamp. I thought it was part of the hero's healing that he could come to love her.

I thought it was great that Emma was the one to vanquish the villian and she finally got her page in the Valkryrie book.

I know I'm against the grain but I don't like Nix. I think it's because I see her as a troublemaker. I know that really isn't accurate and that it's her ability that makes her seem batty. But I still won't be rushing out to buy her book. :)

Steamywindows♥♫ (steamywindows) | 59 comments Hello all, I am thinking of starting to read A Hunger Like No Other and wondered how you think this series compares to the Karen Marie Moning Fever series? I stalled on book three a couple of years ago and have recently been encouraged to read book four. I don't want a stressful or downer read at the moment. Any thoughts on which one to go with? Thanks for the help...SW

message 21: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments Steamywindows, both series are really great, but pretty different, well other than they both have hot alpha males!lol the Immortals After Dark series is my fav. PNR series ever:D A Hunger like No Other was not my fav. but it was good, and the series just gets better and better! Also I wouldn't worry about either being a downer (at least not ultimately) but the Fever series might be a little stressful at times, but soooo worth it in the long run:)

Doudy | 1 comments i really liked that book and i think that i'm going to love the whole series
i'm already a big fan of the paranormal romance books (BDB, lords of the underword, night huntress, atlantis, demonica) and what make me read IAD is the MacCarrik brothers series they are amazing .
at first i didn't agree that she was so helpless she could rescue herself she is strong but doesn't know it .
she refused to be his mate at first because she felt prisoner even for love but at the end she accepted it because she understood her self that she is strong and can walk away if she wants BUT she CHOSE to stay for love .
i guess that is the is the idea that you can't surrender to love because you 're weak but you choose love because your strong.
