How is the use of flashback helpful to the reader in understanding Mia's thoughts about living and dying?

The flashback helps show everyone what her life was like before... if it didn't have that, you wouldn't really be able to connect with her.

I think it really just helped us connect with her and the way her life was and the pros and cons of staying or leaving.
i think there was way too much flashbacks, like to an unnecessary point and amount. but maybe its because i couldnt relate her love wit the cello to anything important in my life. idk and her love for her bf seemed a little over the edge
