Trace (runetracey) Ive been reading about a fault that is occuring with a lot of Kindle's. There are hundreds of postings on Amazon about it too
It just stops working for no reason and apparently folks arent able to get any help to resolve the problem

Its put me off getting one, at least a paperback isnt going to stop working!

Jess | 3721 comments I've had my kindle freeze up, maybe twice? I just hit the reset button, which is what the people told me when I called, and it comes back on. But I have an older generation kindle, maybe this is something with the new ones?

But other than those two times, I've never had a problem.

I have the the K3 and I had some issues for a while with mine freezing and rebooting it was not a big deal until it happened 8 times one evening, I was then frustrated enough that I called Amazon, I explained the problem to customer service and they sent me a new one the next day...I had the K3 for 6 months when they replaced it....I read some of the postings you mention and it is possible it was the lighted cover I had that was the cause of the problem... I don't use that cover anymore and I have not had any problems with freezing or spontaneous rebooting since then.....

Lisa Toppin | 3 comments I haven't had any trouble with my kindle at all. The only flaw for me is that the books aren't paginated. I take my kindle along to a book group I'm in and I can't go to page 48 when everyone else does. Instead, I have to search for the page everyone else is on using key words from the discussion. Otherwise I love that thing.

Tracy T. The non lighted cover Amazon used to sell caused the problems. Amazon fixed it by refunding the people who called up the price of the non lighted cover plus $25 to buy the lighted cover.

Some of the books have pages in the latest K3 update, but most don't.

Dalene I have the original Kindle and it will freeze very rarely and I just reset. Customer Service is excellent when calling in with a problem. My daughter has the K3 and has experienced no problems.

Jess | 3721 comments Yeah when I called about mine freezing, they were very nice and helpful. I think the newest generation of any technology project always have some issues.

I think this was the main thing that was causing problems with the Kindle. Since the problem was addressed, I would not hesitate to get a Kindle.
