Strider | 104 comments I guess there is a difference between how we see ourselves and how others see us. For me, a very helpful reality check.

Maybe you could all take my Which Character Are You? test. It is very simple and 100% accurate. Here it is:

WHICH CHARACTER WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO BE? The answer? Which ever character you named!! =)

message 152: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabethnovak) Haha that's most likely true. And the tests are slanted in that direction anyway, with making us choose which weapon we would like to use. We all know that we'll get Legolas if we choose archery. ;)

Rebecca L (rebeccalsnowe) I know really?

message 154: by Elizabeth (last edited Mar 14, 2015 05:08PM) (new)

Elizabeth (elizabethnovak) That's probably the question they base the result on actually. Lol

message 155: by Rebecca L (new)

Rebecca L (rebeccalsnowe) Yeah probably, some of the questions seem kind of biased towards his personality.

message 158: by Strider (new)

Strider | 104 comments I'm still afraid to let someone take this for me. I just know I'll end up one of the despised and gross Uruk Hai from either Mordor or Isengard.

Maybe being an Ent wouldn't be too bad, so long as it was deep in the middle of Fangorn, and not near the camp fires of the Rohirrim, or Saruman's furnaces! ;-)

Curious; was Tauriel in any of the options?

message 159: by Strider (new)

Strider | 104 comments Lizzy, I probably know you the best here and can see how you would "relate" very well to Tauriel! You are very perceptive, love the outdoors, have a heart to help others, and probably are not afraid to speak your mind if you thought something unjust, like Tauriel did by going against the King, when she thought he should be looking out for the good of others, and not just those in his kingdom. Even Legolas (in the movie) noted her sense of justice and was moved in that direction. (And from reading some of your writings, I sense a strong understanding between right and wrong, quite an accomplishment from one so young!)

Although I strongly disliked P.J.'s invention of a character not in J.R.R.'s book, I did indeed loved who Tauriel was, and how she was not afraid to BE who she was! Although not one of the High Elves, she was indeed every bit Elve, female, and Heroine! (As I have mused before, if I were able to produce The Silmarillion, she (Tauriel ) would have a place on the screen!)

Lizzy, I would cast my vote toward Tauriel, if I were evaluating you. (Hope you weren't trying for Legolas!) :-)

That's funny!:)

Essilie | 39 comments I would love to have someone take this for me, but to be quite honest, no one but my brothers know me well enough!

Oh thank you Strider, I don't know if I can quite see myself as Tauriel. I definitely don't think I would be as heroic (nor as well spoken in speaking my mind *wink*). If I was completely honest, I'd have to say I was more of Bilbo or Frodo (though I really like the Elves). Being the person who would rather stay home, but loving adventures and things heroic. I can see myself more as that person (or hobbit.)

Now if I had to pick someone for you. It would either be Gandalf (with your wisdom and knowledge, and perception of the small things effecting the big.) Or again Bilbo would be pretty close.

Strider | 104 comments You know, this has been good, probably for everyone who reads it. For it helps us to ask probing questions as to both who we are and who we THINK we are!

You know, I am beginning to notice the obvious (Daaahhh), that the body has its limitations, as it has only been given a measure of gifts, talents, and abilities, as well as it being limited by natural laws. But, the Spirit has none of those limits. And maybe that is why so many of you are prolific readers! You are able to enter into any Time Zone any time you choose, become anyone one you want to be, do anything you want to do, and can become any character in any book you choose. You have so few limits with your inner-self/soul/spirit.

I may be off base here, but in considering what I like to read, what I prefer to identify with in my reading, and asking myself WHY I enjoy some books over others, I begin to see a pattern, one that helps me better understand myself.

Hey, I'm the guy who went to very few movies, but when LOTR came out, I watched the each of the three almost 20 times at the theater! (Went broke from admission and popcorn!) Why? What was so compelling about the themes in those movies? This told me a lot about myself! (Still working on it, by the way, because I still watch them occasionally on DVD, reread the books periodically, and "listen to the books" being read on mp3 often while working!! And that doesn't include my listening to both the soundtracks AND the scores occasionally.)

But why? What in the world would "cause" someone to enter into this world of Elves and Men and Dwarves and Orcs and Hobbits and Ents, spending so much of life amid these "friends and enemies?" Maybe that is part of my forordained quest.

Perhaps I will discover what I am truly afraid of, or fear the most. Maybe these adventures will expose my true feelings about those who are different from me. Or even help me to better understand the dichotomy between good and evil, not allowing those lines to be blurred, as they often are today, e.g. 50 Shades of Gray.

Hey, I am just one more world traveler, like you, seeking to better understand who I am, what I am here for, and where I am going. And if "character tests" help me with that, then all the better! Even if I do end up being an Orc or an Ent! :-D

P.S. When I work in homes, one of the first things I look for is "the book case." I can learn more about my customers from the books they have on their shelves than anything, other than conversation. From it, I can often learn their general and specific interests, what line of work they may be in, even their temperament style. Books so often reveal/expose the inner person often more than a good counselor can discover.

I think it may have been Socrates that said, that an unexamined life is not worth living. A bit harsh, perhaps, but I do think I understand where he was coming from. But then, I don't think he knew about Orcs and Ents back in his day!!! :^)

Mary Grace (jaded_angel) | 24 comments I would be Sam. Every time I take a quiz, I get Sam! And there is a really personal reason that I am Sam, and my best friend is Frodo, but I won't get into it. I have pretty much the same personality as Sam, and I would probably act just like him if I were with Frodo. Sam, Aragorn, and Faramir are my favorite characters. <3

Cool! Faramir is my favorite!

message 168: by Mary Grace (new)

Mary Grace (jaded_angel) | 24 comments I loved Faramir in the books. I didn't like how he wanted the Ring taken to Gondor in the movie though. When Sam said "By rights we shouldn't even be here" they are saying how they weren't taken to Osgiliath in the book!!! I found that very funny! :P

message 169: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabethnovak) Yeah, PJ's theory was that everyone is corrupted by the ring. So Faramir would have been to. But technically that isn't true, because the ring only corrupts if you can see the ring. And Faramir told Frodo not to show him the ring because he knew that.

message 170: by Mary Grace (last edited Nov 27, 2015 08:32PM) (new)

Mary Grace (jaded_angel) | 24 comments Hey cool I didn't know that! But really PJ made me see a cold hearted mean man, instead of noble, fair Faramir. But I haven't seen ROTK movie yet, seeing it for the first time tomorrow! (Can't wait hehehehe) ;) hopefully Faramir is better, and that Rohirrim charge better be cool too!!! :D

I don't think I'm like Legolas!

Mary Grace (jaded_angel) | 24 comments Love your pic, Sherlock is so cool. I've only seen the first two episodes so far and am addicted. It's too bad the episodes are and hour and a half long!! I can only watch one at a time.

Smaug and Bilbo, solving crime together! xD

Sorry, that was off-topic xD

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ I'm part Legolas and part Gandalf. Thank you so much for the quiz. It was fun!

Anastasia aka Taurendil (theanastasia) | 2 comments I got Frodo. And I did it twice... changing the answers a bit.

From the quiz at http://www.zimbio.com/quiz/WD6GNmf982... I first got Sam and then Frodo.

http://www.allthetests.com/quiz30/qui... 30% Gandalf, 30% Legolas, 30% Aragorn, 10% Frodo
