Black Swan Green is a realistic and semi-autobiographical account of the adolescent life of the author, David Mitchell. The main character is a thirteen-year-old named Jason Taylor who is growing up in the early 80's in a small town in England. I really enjoyed the author's descriptive writing and portrayal of adolescent life. I think that if you like realistic fiction with an occasional mystical twist you will like this.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is the story of a highly-functioning autistic kid trying to solve the mystery of who killed his neighbor's dog. Although the book starts out as a "mystery novel", the main character's past comes back to haunt him and shifts the concept of the book. This author puts himself inside the head of this autistic boy perfectly and his voice is amazing.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth installment in a series about a young wizard's adventures at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. In the story, the evil wizard Voldermort rises back to power to terrorize the world of wizardry. This book is full of vivid imagery and thrilling mystery that will keep you engaged until the very end. J. K. Rowling does an excellent job of creating believable and lovable characters and i'm finding myself hopelessly addicted.
The Hobbit The Hobbit was a good book that was about a little Hobbit named Bilbo who goes on an adventure with a wizard named Gandolf and 13 Dwarfs. They go on an adventure to the dwarfs mountain that was taken by a dragon named Smog. They run into many problems on there adventure. Throught the story Bilbo becomes more and more brave and finds out he can do more then he ever thought. They end up killing the dragon but everyone wants the gold he was protecting so there ends up being a war between the dwarfs, elves, and humans but before they start the battle they get word of a gobblin army comeing and have to set aside there differences to fight the greater evil.
Taming the Star RunnerI like the book but the boy is a pretty bad influence because he wants to take a knife in the airport and his parents take the knife because he would've got them in so much trouble and they wouldn't have been able to take there flight
