Sad news, Diana Wynne Jones died last night.

I just got online and found out. It's just kind of hard for me to believe that she is gone. I will miss her.

How terrible! I will certainly miss her. DWJ's writing style was so unique. Her mind was a one of a kind and her stories reflected this. Deep sigh. I'm going online to read the news.

I'm going to get The Dark Lord of Derkholm and The Year of the Griffin out to read. Actually I should create a challenge for myself and read all of DWJ's books that I own. I have a lot.

I went to Neil Gaiman's blog and read his article. He has a link to Emma Bull's website and she wrote a nice piece about DWJ.

I'm glad I got 'American Gods" as a holiday gift swap. I'll look for any similarities to Diana Wynne Jaoes' writing or stories.

I'm disappointed that more people haven't voiced their sorrow. I keep expecting more. Why doesn't the world love Diana Wynne Jones? Silly world. I do like reading the blogs. I, too, want her out of print books to be re-printed. I just bought a kindle and would love to download her books.

Not a huge shock, but still sad to see her go. I love her work, especially her stand alone masterpieces. Will have to re-read something of hers this week to remember her.

I'm upset as well about her death not making the mainstream media. There has been nothing on the News, Radio or even the front page of AOL in America and that makes me very sad. I know she wasn't as popular in America as say J.K. Rowling is, but I would have at least liked a mention of her death.
And the books that are out of print being reprinted would be nice.
I also plan on reading a book of hers soon. I'm thinking of reading The Lives of Christopher Chant.

She was an incredible talent with a true gift. She could make the most ordinary thing into something magical and extraordinary, yet feel like an ordinary part of that world. She will truly be missed.
