Yup, COD. The guy is a foreign post grad student at UM from India. He came with an unopened box. It was easy liaising with him :)

I noticed you register your Nook. I skipped over the registration :D Wifi in my area not so good, ding dong ding dong aje.
Congrats again ya!

Yup, I registered my nook :) Good after sales service, e even emailed me links where we can download books *wink*
Goldflower, I believe you don't need to register your nook/have B&N account. You can skip this step. Yes, just drag and drop the e-books from your PC. Charging nook is easy peesy, just use the adapter given and charge it while using your laptop

I'm calling it "The Hand of the Queen" (The Hand for short) or "Silent Lady". I wanted to call it a guy but its definitely a girl.
Pros :
1. For reading, E-ink killed LCD.
2. Fit in one hand and its seriously thin, which is why I use plastic DVD case when I put it in my bag to keep it from scratching.
3. Battery life is way better than a laptop or phone
4. It have fast key-in response even without the keyboard (no lags while key-in words)
5. No glare unless you put it under direct light source
6. Collection made it easier to organize (need to register though)
7. Fast black-out refresh rate and I blink more frequently now so thats a plus for the dry eyes (people do forget to blink when reading on anything)
8. Physical side buttons on both sides
9. Very affordable for a student with limited budget.
10. Rubber coated backing for better grip. (and I do unconsciously stroke/molest the backing so lets just say, its very pleasing to touch)
11. Non-touch screen. (why its in my pros instead of cons? see below)
12. The ads are not distracting at all. I'm very vocal about my hatred for Youtube Malaysia because of video ads but Kindle ads are tasteful and pretty! (like Decalgirl, skincare, book and movie ads)
13. Password-enabled capabilities (!) I never notice this in any of the reviews before but its a great plus if you dislike people poking around your books.
14. Landscape-portrait in any ways. Wonderful for PDF and slides but only if you're so used to printing 6 slides on a paper.
15. Can read with either both hands (if you eat or write with the other hand, you’ll find this useful)
16. Neat shortcuts like refreshes, screencaps etc
17. Tonnes of heavy dictionaries in the small palm bookreader the size of your hand and the weight of a solid but light tablet.
18. 1-year warranty. Amazon have good rep for warranty claim services (broken keys, broken screen, hang, etc) unlike a lot of computer brands (every brands actually). You can get free replacement if the Kindle were irreversibly damaged. Yes, you can do it in Malaysia as some Kindle sellers can help you with it - with the price of shipping.
19. Rarity. Honestly, no one that I know have a Kindle. Thats definitely a definition of hipster if you're into that.
Cons:
1. You can’t press the side buttons with one hand while holding the ereader in the air without risking losing your grip. The buttons too narrow for that but its quite fine since it wont accidentally turn a page but I still find it tad annoying if I hold it up.. you can do it one hand only if you lay the other side on something (bed, chest, lap, mug etc) and turn the page. Sorta like physics... its too thin and too light for pure one handed usage.
2. Greyish-background and dark grey words. I usually read after midnight (its quieter) in a dark living room with some light from the kitchen... although its still readable but I'd wish contrast were adjustable. (way better than LCD backlight in complete darkness.. which is why sometimes I use my laptop as a booklight when I'm reading in the dark..)
3. Three fonts.... seriously? 3?
4. Margin that wasnt adjustable whenever you increase the font. I want them in the middle not skewed to the right like some insignificant value of p.
5. Zoom can be downright fussy
6. Ads that you cant use unless you’re an American
7. Fragile screen (it didn’t say it is, but people do forget about it still being an electronic) But its less fragile than a HD LCD.
8. Scrolling is an ass with the refreshes
9. "Is that iPad?" comment... even when the thing have massive "kindle" behind it
10. Personally I don't like the silver look. Gonna get a matte Gelaskin in a couple of month.
11. If you're not in America, don't even think about buying stuff from kindle unless you have gift cards. (available in LYN forum or if you create two Amazon account)
12. It does absorb the heat from the surroundings. Can be quite hot under the sun. (Irony)
13. WiFi is not a helpful thing when there's no wifi around you when you absolutely need to google something. (apply to laptop, phone etc.. easily fix if you put in encyclopaedias or dictionaries or textbooks)
14. No Malay e-dictionaries. No Malay scientific e-dictionary. (seriously, its time to make it an opensource)
15. Typing with the navigation and enter key in the middle is actually darn annoying (lenguh)
16. the 1.35 gb is a bad idea for PDF and manga readers. Defo need other storage solution.
Personally I don't really think touch and audio-capabilities is necessary in a book reader. I could have just gotten the rm400 alternatives but I'm so glad I choose the right one for me.
I know lot of people take Non-Touch as a cons but you CAN rest your fingers on the pages of a NT without accidental flips (especially in a palm-sized reader). KT doesn't have a physical button that will disable the touchscreen which will be an inconvenient while you're reading. I have this issues with my own multi-gesture touchpad laptop that I'm currently using. It take sometimes to get used to but I have a choice with the sensitivity of the touchscreen. KT doesn't.
As for audiobooks and music, I find 2-4gb bookreaders (even with SD card) isn't enough for massive audio files library. It can bother the reader's software too (like lags and such) so its better to get a proper mp3 player. And like I say, its personal preference, I've tried audiobooks but they were ALL too slow for me. Text-to-speech generally annoys me especially when it doesn't recognize a strange word or start to make up pronunciations and most of all, it lacks fluidity. Although I do listen to some music while reading but usually I found music to be too distracting while I'm immersing myself in reading (not bathing) and earphones often bring me ear infection or dryiness... annoys me greatly too.
As for books, I dont think its a major issue for me whether you can or cant access Amazon and B&N stores. Any ebooks reader work like a charm no matter what brands it is, its generally a preference. Format conversions are not a problem since I do that all the time for videos, documents and images. Current converters like Calibre are far more efficient than watermarked freewares that I have to stomach with some years ago to convert html to lit.
One of the major attractiveness of Kindle 4 was in its affordability and its experience in the bookreader market which made it a true tried-and-tested bookreader. Kindle Touch and Fire are still in its beta stage which I'm not keen to.
If you have Kindle 3, its not necessary to get Kindle 4 since its not really an upgrade unless you like the sleek hand-sized compact design.
For a bookworm, there's a lot of cheap book buying option in malaysia (Bookxcess, Payless, BBW, warehouse sales) and I myself prefer to buy physical books, so having a reliable and somewhat cheap book reader is an advantage. Besides, I scan documents, notes and recipes and put it in PDF and transfer it to my ebook. Way less hassle than having to bring everything (or my laptop) wherever I go.
I'm a bit concerned about the local ebook market. I really do hope there's more of such e-sites in coming years and more local publisher open to the idea of ebooks. I would like more choices should I want to read a malay book (I already read them rarely anyway) instead of buying them in physical form. Yes, local book are cheap but my book space isn't. So far, local sites seem to cater iPad readers... which is way overrated for a bookreader.
UPDATED 27/4 : I don't really want to go this LOOONG but well.. everyone should know if you're thinking of purchasing it instead of browsing every website in the net for its... sigh
Grey screen.
I know I say something about the contrast but here's the thing. The screen reacted different way depending on the type of light you read from. Indoor indirect light made it grey. Fluorescent light made it slightly yellowish-grey tinge. Sunlight made the background near white but unfortunately I found it too bright. Guess thats first time e-ink for me. So sometimes when ppl say something about different screen batches in kindle, I think that it was affected by the type of lighting.
Additional on why I got the Non-Touch again?
My nieces and nephew like to touch everything with their chicken-masak-merah-greasy hands and mess around with my stuff so naturally being technologically enabled they like to mess with my ereader.
And update on accessories:
I'm getting this...
and much later, this..

I'm not a pink person but somehow both of them fits. But I'm still in between gelaskin and decalgirl.... so hard to choose between them.

haven't read it yet. i'm finishing other older YA books. I love Julie Kagawa's iron fey books but I know she'll make a killer cliffhanger so I'm putting it aside for now... until the novella came out at least
