I keep revising my decision - on whether or not to buy an e-reader now.
At first, I wanted a Nook. Then I changed my mind and set my eyes on BenQ - considering the support that is easily available locally should any difficulties arise. Then my latest focus was Sony e-reader (until PRS-650 is discontinued).
Sekarang macam kurang sikit keinginan nak miliki e-reader, mahupun tablet.

Saya masih inginkan Kindle sebab tu mmg e-reader bukannya Tablet PC.
Semalam saya pun confused bila Khairul tulis macam tu.
If the e-reader that I like is easily within reach, I'd choose that anytime instead of tablet.

(I like the sound of it. Sexy.)
Semakin terang, semakin banyak makan bateri. Semakin pudar, kena guna lampu tambahanlah pula bila nak membaca. Maka terpulang pada keselesaan masing-masing.
Selain latar berwarna coklat muda, juga ada warna putih, kelabu, hitam (yang mana teksnya bertukar menjadi putih), dan negatif (macam filem negatif gitu - i can't imagine why would anyone choose this or black, but let's leave that another time, okay?).
Sekian dulu ulasan ringkas beta.

Sebab Najmuddin tak tulis reviu yg saya mintak Bunnybaby reviukan. Buku2 cik Potter tu berapa harga? Atau percuma sebab dah luput hakcipta?

Yang saya download tu percuma punya, kerana dah luput hakcipta.
Untuk e-buku berbayar, belum beli lagi. Belum dapat connect-kan Readers Hub dengan Kobobooks. Sedang cari solusinya.

Kataklicik, me too! And I just found out the full featured iBookstore is not available in Malaysia - I can only download the free, have passed copyrights books. Down :( iBooks is probably the e-reader that's closest to the real thing.

eReader is more for people on the go, I guess. Waktu biasa-biasa, I tak kisah sangat sebab buku berlambak kat rumah untuk dibaca. Tapi bila kena pergi ke mana-mana, masa itulah baru appreciate 'untungnya kalau ada ereader'.
And also, because I have to read so many articles in PDF, not having to print them is a bliss! Even though I don't mind buying more dead tree books, I'd become an environmentalist when it comes to printing from my own printer (maklumlah, nak jimat toner dan kertas!).

Especially useful when you have a little baby too. I often forget to bring the books with me even when I put it on couch near the door, lots of hurrying around not to miss feeding time and pumping time.
It also saves me the confusion, because I used to put book face down to tend to the kids, if I have an ereader I need not worry about bookmarking, it will automatically do that for you.

Another added bonus with this G-Tab (or any other tablet) cum ereader is, I can have Al-Quran with me all the time. Jawapannya, as long as the Quran is not switched on (off the screen) when we go to toilet, it's fine.
Here is my latest update on using G-Tab for ereading.
By the way, the price of G-Tab P1000 is falling down almost every week. So this is probably a good time to buy it.
I've installed Kobo app on it. Readers Hub is a Samsung app, which connects to Kobo and Zinio. Although I supposedly can update Kobo from Readers Hub, it is much easier to have Kobo app installed separately.
So far I've only bought one ebook from Kobobooks. With Kobo app, I can't customize the color of the background like the G-Tab default ebook app, but Kobo offers other perks, such as 20% discounts for the first ebook purchase, awards, etc., all bundled in its Reading Life program. Screen brightness and font size adjustment are still possible on Kobo, and you can highlight text, make some notes on the page, and share phrases that you like on FB.
Next I'd like to try buying ebooks from Borders, which also connects to Kobo. I've browsed Book Depository, but all the titles that I want are out of stock. So Khairul is right about Amazon having the largest collection (mesti dia 'eksyen' dan mengangkat Amazon Kindle selepas ni).

2. can surf the web
3. music?
4. for students like me
5. worth the price
6. skrin yang tak sakitkan mata
7. not really into games
8. can buy in Malaysia without the need to use any backdoor
9. ebooks can be easily added to the ereader

The reason I did not recommend the Kindle to her is because what she wrote on no. 8: can buy in Malaysia without the need to use any backdoor.
Kindle not legally recognised in M'sia. Kalau tak, dah lama saya beli dua.

Laa, baru tahu Lolliepop tu female. Never bothered to check her profile page before.
BTW, I quite recently discovered that Kobo app allows you to switch the text background into night mode, making it white font with black background. Not sure if this is more gentle to the eyes for night reading, for I still prefer black font against white.
In terms of ebook purchase, there is indeed georestriction if you try to buy direct from online bookstore, say, Borders.com. I was so frustrated when I couldn't buy 3 Jodi Picoult novels from Borders online. Apparently the ebookstore is tied with Kobo, so if the title that you want is not available at Kobo (direct browsing from Kobo app), you can safely assume that if you try to buy it from Borders.com, you won't get it.
So Lolliepop, you need to be clear on your wants and needs. GTab 7" is pretty much the same size as an e-reader, but you get less battery time and a backlit screen that is sure to strain your eyes after a prolonged use. Installing e-reading app is easy, and so is buying ebooks.
E-readers sold in Malaysia don't have Internet-browsing features but you measure the battery time in days instead of hours. And then the ebooks have to be transferred from PC to ereader.
Choose wisely.

The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, says that the Kindle is digital version of a book. It was never designed to be a tablet PC. You can't read/send emails on a Kindle, surf the 'net and all that. It's a book in a digital format. Nothing more nothing less. If anyone wants an e-reader and surf the net as well, they are better off with an Ipad, Tab or Xoom.

Khairul, even if it's not legally recognised I believe it does not fall under counterfeitable goods? Because when they shipped into Malaysia through posting agents, the custom did not counterfeit them.
And I think what makes it not legal (yet) anyway is because Amazon, B&N or Kobo still do not want to venture internationally (or lack of local players who want to be partners?) - even when there are high demands. What do you think? What hinders them, I wonder.
Plus, I heard that any electronic goods to be sold in local market need to adhere to certain standard under SIRIM. Is it true?

No, it's not considered counterfeit. It's just that the customer is not covered by any insurance in case of damage to the machine since the country (M'sia) is not recognised by Kindle. I was looking at the liability aspect.
I don't think Amazon doesn't want to venture internationally but I don't know what the reason for a lack of Kindle coverage in M'sia. No local partners? Didn't they try MAXIS? Maybe they think it's not worth it because M'sians don't read?
Ask Faizah about the SIRIM standards. She works there doesn't she?

anyway, good recommendation from you guys although i still cant decide which is better.I seriously didnt consider Kindle as an option cause of that Amazon-not-shipping-to-malaysia thing, but good point of view up there!

basically ipad macam skrin komputer/laptop la, which is backlit, kalau tengok lama2 penat/sakit mata. ereader guna teknologi e-ink, secara umumnya yang saya faham, dia capture partikel2 'dakwat' pada skrin - not backlit macam komputer, tapi menyerupai kertas berdakwat sebenar. jadi kalau dalam gelap, baca ereader macam baca buku/atas kertas - tak nampak. kalau komputer tablet macam ipad, sama macam laptop lah, boleh baca dalam gelap.
