taita April 2011 - Pick It For Me Challenge (Picks by Gigi)
Status: Challenge Complete 4/22/11

Friends: Hummingbird by LaVyrle Spencer
This was recommended to me by a GR friend and I loved it. I'm not a huge americana and/or western HR fan, but I became a quick fan of LaVyrle's HR's.

Romance: Wow, I had a hard time picking one for this one, but The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley Completed 5/1 or Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean Completed 6/1

Intense: The Conqueror by Brenda Joyce or Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone. Both are very intense books- The Conqueror because of the period in which the book took place and Addicted for other reasons related to the books title.

Emotion: Well, this book's ending is a little controversial. However, I can honestly say that this book had me laughing and crying. There was one part that literally almost had me in tears...ok, maybe literally in tears..a little bit lol! A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux

New: Black Ice by Anne Stuart
I noticed that this was on your TBR and it appears to be your only romantic suspense book. So, new to you in terms of the genre. If you're in the mood for a book heavy on action and light on romance..this is the book for you. I really loved the hero!

Don't Forget: The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt.
I've recently read this one and enjoyed it.

Support: The Black Lyon by Jude Deveraux Completed 4/22
I've been putting this off too long and I really loved Knight in Shining Armor. So, if you pick the Black Lyon, I would love to read this with you.

Bonus (friendships): The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

********************
Buddy Read with Rebecca: Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning. Completed 4/15
********************

Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning The Black Lyon (Montgomery #1) by Jude Deveraux The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean

taita FAC: Iris Johansen (May 2011)
Duration: May 1 - May 31, 2011
Status: Complete ~ Updated: 5/29/11

Before: New to author
Book: The Treasure
After: Would read again, but not running to the bookstore. Had a hard time connecting to the characters and the author kept skimming over love scenes. Really had to push myself to finish reading it.

taita RITA 2011 Finalists Challenge!
Duration: May 1 - July 1, 2011
Level: Follower
Status: 4/4 Completed ~ Updated: 7/1/11

1. Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean (6/1/11) ~ 5 stars
Original, funny read. I enjoyed seeing a full figured girl as the heroine.

2. When Harry Met Molly by Kieran Kramer (6/19/11) ~ 3 stars
A lot of the scenes and dialogue was hilarious. Only problem was that the heroine kept bugging the heck out of me.

3. A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James (6/26/11) ~ 2 stars
Unique take on the Cinderella story. Was excrutiatingly slow and bland up until the last fourth of the book.

4. Last Night's Scandal by Loretta Chase (7/1/11) ~ 4 stars
Hilarious! These two friends turned lovers were a great pair. A sweet, endearing read.

Duration: June 1 - June 30, 2011
Status: Complete ~ Updated: 6/5/11

Before: New to author
Book: Devil of the Highlands
After: The story was good but it wasn't the best I've ever read. I never really connected with the characters and though the scenes were funny in the beginning, the rest of the story just got kind of bland. Even so, I think I could give this author another shot.

Duration: June 7 - July 5, 2011
Status: Complete ~ Updated: 7/3/11

Goal: Read ONE book from the list within a four-week period. Post a brief commentary about the book you read.

Book: The Giver by Lois Lowry
Rating: 3 stars
Commentary: Amazed that this is considered a kid's book. OK... Young Adult book. I cried because parts of it were so disturbing to me. A quick, but intense read. It ended a bit abruptly. Wish it was more clear about what happens to everyone.

Book: It's In His Kiss by Julia Quinn
Rating: 4 stars
Commentary: I really fell for Gareth's character. I found Hyacinth's self doubt and unwillingness to try things she might fail at to be quite annoying. I did like the way the author described the moment each character knew they were in love. Very charming.

taita July 2011 - Pick It For Me Challenge (Picks by Renee)
Status: Complete ~ Updated: 7/25/11
Birth Day: Saturday

1. Sun - The Hunger Games
I loved this book/series from page one to the last. (post-apocalyptic science fiction with a great storyline)

2. Moon - The Lost Symbol
I've heard good things about this one, and if you've enjoyed The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, I hope you'll like this one too.

3. Mars - Wuthering Heights
A strong male character indeed :)

4. Mercury - Jane Eyre
It's one of the shortests on your to-read list, and I personally really liked it.

5. Jupiter - Fight Club
As I saw from your lists, you don't usually read this kind of books. But this one is definitely worth it :)

6. Venus - Me and My Shadow
This is actually a part of a series, but it can be read separately also. It's not steamy all the way, but it has certain parts ;)

7. Saturn - Gone With the Wind
Really good romance book, and not only.

8. Asteroid - Memoirs of a Geisha
I wanted to read this one for a long time but never got around to it. Hopefully now I/we will :)

9. Comet - Timeless by Alexandra Monir (7/25)
The title caught my attention, I hope it'll be interesting :)

Duration: July 5 - August 2, 2011
Status: Complete ~ Updated: 7/10/11

Goal: Read ONE book from the list within a four-week period. Post a brief commentary about the book you read.

Book: Once and Always by Judith McNaught
Rating: 4 stars
Commentary: As always, I love everything Judith McNaught. The hero Jason was a wonderfully rich and complex character. The heroine was empathetic, kind, yet annoyingly naive sometimes. I dislike forced sex scenes and "misunderstandings", which is why this isn't a 5 star rating but the overall book was exceptional. I cried a few times, a little for each character. I LOVE Jason & Tory!

Once and Always by Judith McNaught
