Finally finished! Too much else going on and a little distracted at the end. It was enjoyable overall, ups and downs like you said in a previous post. Found the Vikings and Rus to be some of the better ups.
One thing the book did was make me go search out for a title covering Harald Hardrada. So I ended up ordering a copy of this title:
by John Marsden

Might try this one at some point:

I realize that this read is over, but I am now about 1/4 the way through. Got caught trying to finish up several other books I've been reading. This is a good read, I don't remember this part of history (other than a mention of Charlemagne) being taught much in my secondary or university education. I am enjoying myself thus far. I do hope to finish this and then get caught up with the group read on

Hi Kathy,I'm sure you'll enjoy the book all the way to the end, it offers some fascinating insights to this period of history and made me rush off and order more books on subjects I wanted to read up on, have fun :)
Kathy, no matter what on the buddy reads whenever you get to the book, there will always be one of the moderators to chat with and we hope you are enjoying it.
