=( I like his voice better when it's his natural accent, seems a little strained putting on an American accent...English accents are just, well...sexier, maybe. xD

Agree with PandaRanda (sounds weird saying your username when I know your real name!) Yeah, Brit accents beat the crap out of American accents (No offense to the yankees in the house). At least, you guys sound better than our New Zealand accents. Haha, it's funny...cos I always imagine characters have NZ accents in my head...even though I know they don't. I've always been happy with RPattz =)
personally i think he'll be fantastic - he's almost exactly what i envisioned when i read the book. everytime i think about edward i get giddy and a shiver goes down my spine :)

probably, it depends on what he does in the movie, but I think hes awesome!
i think also, that this was a very tough role to cast. there isn't a single actor out there that would have been *perfect* because working from a book everyone is going to have different vision in there head. besides, SM's Edward set the bar WAY too high for a regular human to capture - no one is going to be as beautiful as he was described.i watched the trailer though and i am impressed. i am painfully giddy awaiting the movie :)
I don't want to watch the trailers because I think its going to give away some of the suspence, but I did watch the interviews and the articles about it so I'm happy.
robert pattinson is soooooo not cute. did u see him in HP 4???? And he moves kinda creep(ish) to me. and i dnt think he should've tried to sound american bc his whole-british accent thing is what made me not hate him so much in HP 4. plus i dnt like all his erm... darker features. i know tht they couldnt possibly find any guy who lookz at all like edward, however i'm sure they could've found sum1 who looked more lie him. but then again the guy might be kind of a jerk and not get along with the bella actress. but the actress they picked for bella isnt that bad. not what i thought she looked like but close enough.
ok, fine, he's not all that bad.. She's a perfect bella, but i saw other actors(eg:/ Tom Sturridge)as edward...

I don't know much Tom has acted in, but he is good looking. That said, I think we all need to wait and see what Rob does with the character. We haven't seen enough to really know much more than to say we think he's cute or not. I'm actually looking forward to Rob's portrayal in his indie flick, "How To Be" as much as Edward. Acting-wise, I think he has a lot of potential, so I'm going in hoping to be pleasantly surprised - meaning, I hope his portrayal as Edward just "sinks" in right away and we all get used to him as Edward.Also, I read somewhere that Rob had the most chemistry with Kristen when they auditioned. That DEFINITELY counts for something. I'd rather have a guy look slightly less than what I imagined as Edward, but have the chemistry. Think about what Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling brought to The Notebook, right?
PS - More than Edward, I'm wondering how the guy they picked as Jacob is gonna stack up. I don't like that they are putting what looks like cheap wigs on him and James ... at least Rob's hair (dyed bronze or not) is REAL - haha

Caroline,Actually, Stephenie didn't handpick these actors for her characters. She had no control over who was selected.

It's kind of interesting to see who Stephenie imagined in this roles. For Bella, an early person she mentioned was Ellen Page of Juno fame.
Another interesting thing on Stephenie's site is her mention that she didn't (aside from the first book) have much say on the covers of the books either.
If you haven't trolled thru her site, it's so great because she's so open about her work. More authors could take a clue from her in how to be a (pardon the pun) open book with their fans.

I think Tom looks too young (ha! to self) but I think he's cute too, but he wouldn't be able to get the vampire look that Robert Pattinson have (to self)
hes perfect! although i think he might be a little weak for this role. This role has to be played by a good, strong actor and I just don't know if hes a strong enough actor to fulfill this role! I guess we'll have to wait and see!xoxo
