Feel free to introduce yourself here.

My name is Tricia. I'm a paranormal romance author, the mother of three and I'm addicted to books, history and all things paranormal. I live in the coal country of Pennsylvania and I became interested in ghosts when I was a little girl living at my grandmother's house. I love reading about ghosts and spirits in fiction and nonfiction. I hope to find others who share my interest and could recommend some great books.

Kathy Hiester (kathyhiester) My name is Kathy and I am and avid reader. I am currently working on my first story about a witch. I actually enjoy reading and editing more than writing. I am a mother of two, a wife, and a soon to be grandmother. Thank you for inviting me to join your group.

Penelope Marzec (penelopemarzec) | 2 comments Hi Tricia and thanks for inviting me to this group. I have published several paranormal romances, but one does have a ghost, The Company You Keep. Another is set in Pennsylvania and though the heroine is haunted by her past, the real problem is her husband, who was cursed by a witch-- The Beast of Blackbirch Manor.

I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions here!

Lisa Fox | 1 comments Hi Tricia! Thanks so much for inviting me.

I write paranormal and erotic romance. I don't write about ghosts (yet) but I do love to read stories about them. Most especially the scary ones. The scarier the better in fact.

I'm really excited to be a part of this group!

Yolanda Renee (httpwwwgoodreadscomyolandarenee) | 7 comments Hello all, and thanks for the invite. I love a good ghost story and have written a few. Whenever I experience a nightmare that haunts I have to write it down or keep having them. For me, the scariest of them involve ghosts -- it freaks me out. I claim not to believe in them and yet have an intense interest but real fear of them. Maybe if I claimed to believe they'd quit haunting. Can't wait to start reading your books. My genre currently is mystery stories with a touch of horror. Love romance and have read an interesting ghost / romance just this year. Dream Chaser by P. Christina Greenaway. I'll post my review of it soon.

message 11: by Shane (new)

Shane Hi all :-)
Thank you for the invite Tricia.
This could very well be 'THE' Goodreads group for me.
I've had a deep fascination with all things paranormal, supernatural, uncanny, unsolved etc etc, since a young age.
I'm a 31yr old, Australian, avid reader, working on my first novel.

Cheers

Maria Carmo (mariacarmo) | 7 comments Hello dear Tricia,

I am so happy that you invited me to this group.
I write mostly Urban Magic but up till now there are no "Ghosts" in my stories... Who knows, maybe soon?
I love reading about them, though, both fiction and non fiction. I also love Angels.
Do not like so much the "scary" part but ratjer the mystery and awe.
Thanks a bunch, hope maybe we can write something for this group as well?

It's very therapeutic, as well as a great exercise for creativity. Sometimes your dreams can point you in the right direction for your stories! Thanks for the invite. My novel doesn't have anything to do with ghosts, but I sure like reading about them! My first "ghost" book was The Shining, by Stephen King, and I still think that remains one of the best. I'm curious. What do you all think? Alright, this is going to be fun....

It's very sad, I am a Stephen King fan but I haven't read all of his classic works. My husband says The Shining is one King's best novels. I definitely need to read it, but after I finish the Dark Tower series. I hear they're making that into a movie/series, too. Concerning The Shining, has anyone visited The Stanley Hotel?? Hmmm...maybe I should start a thread for that...

Lisa Faye (Agnew) Coombs (LisaFayeCoombs) | 1 comments Thank you for inviting me; and hello to you and all the members who read the "introductions". I am both an old writer and a new writer, as I put down the pen or pushed away the keyboard for many years. Currently, I am raising three teenagers (which means I have three YA readers in my house). It is quite a paranormal adventure in its own right. Still I am currently working on writing a YA paranormal, adventure, fantasy, horror, mystery, thriller, romance of my own. Yes, there are ghosts, but maybe more importantly are humans interacting and experiencing a co-existence with these sentient and somewhat magickal beings. ;) Lisa

I agree with David. I think angels and demons definitely count. I've often been told that the coincidences (if you believe in such) that happen in my life are because an angel is watching over me.

A Christian murder mystery writer is a moniker I'm not that happy with. Though it's what I've been called. I write murder mysteries and I'm a Christian.

So, I write what I know to be believable Christian characters. That is my Christian characters sound like real life Christian people when they talk to each other. They might use Christianese or Christian buzz words that nonChristians aren't too familiar with.

I don't write theology and try to stay away from preaching, but if my Christian character is having some conflict over a spiritual issue, it will come through. So, there are Christian themes, though not necessarily a Christian message.

I've never written about a character having an experience with an angel or a demon. My friend just wrote a YA book in which he suggests an angel comes in the form of a dog offering comfort and even protection to two poor boys who are suffering child abuse.

Not to get too preachy, but the Bible never says we have a guardian angel...though it seems to suggest so. It also says we should be careful how we treat the stranger/wayfarer as he might be an angel.

message 35: by Drew (new)

Drew Spevak | 4 comments My name is Drew. Originally from Ohio, I was lucky enough to find and marry a beautiful, resourceful, educated Pennsylvanian woman. We are blessed with 3 children (currently elementary school age). I am currently going to school to become an RN, after a long bout with unemployment. It's been a little scary to reinvent myself, but I've had a lot of support from my family.

As for my interest in the supernatural, I'd say it began at a young age. Unfortunately, I witnessed death at the age of 9 which fueled my curiosity to explore the topic. My spiritual journey had taken me to many places, allowed me to talk with many different people, read a wide variety of books (fiction and non-fiction) and eventually I found my place in the 'big picture.' As for writing, I've always been encouraged to write. Many people have told me that I 'talk in pictures.' It wasn't until the Fall 2006 that I decided to write. Starting with a dream I had about my father (who passed away before I had even met my wife, and subsequent children) and my family sitting together for a visit in a hotel room. It inspired a novella, which I've turned into a novel (rough draft from a NaNoWriMo). I build a storyline around special crystal that allow memories of loved ones to appear as holograms you can interact with called 'mirrors.' My novel is the first of three books I plan on writing around these crystals. It involved interacting with the afterlife, blending just enough believable science and faith. The 'other side' is loosely based on the Greek version of Hell. There are no demons or devils, but I have created a series of roles and titles that mix with some mythology. I've invented some words and added my own spin. My hope was to make the story 'fresh' as the God, Devil, demon and angel thing has - in my opinion - been fairly well covered. I have written other short stories, but haven't done anything with the drafts. Since being in nursing school, I find it hard to wrap my brain around anything other than Anatomy & Physiology text. This Fall, I go full time to RN school. My goal is to get back into things, once everything settles down...and get published, as well as look into getting screenplays done.

Anyway, I look forward to taking study breaks with this group...and hope to share some interesting discussions.

-D

Hello...I am Clarinet, and I personally love ghosts. I find them extremely fascinating and exciting, and worth researching. I first fell in love when I was 8, when I witnessed them in my own home. I always feel like they are there...or at least someone is, and even though it is an uncomfortable feeling at the moment, my curiousity inspires me to discover and delve into the subject more. I have read several non-fiction ghost books, and seen plenty of haunted places t.v. shows...I can't wait to discuss this awesome subject together.

Alan (writerlowe) | 1 comments Hi to everyone. I am Alan Lowe the author of several ghostly stories. My latest is a book of stories about haunts in and around Little Rock, Arkansas. The way I get my stories is by experience. I have been a ghost hunter for the last ten years and been honored to hunt or investigate some of the South's more disturbing haunts. My stories always have three elements in them. The tell the history of the location, the story behind the haunt and then I divulge the findings of our investigation after spending the night locked in the facility. This sounds like a fun group and I cannot wait to read all of your stories.
