Elise (eliseisreading) | 18 comments Someone added the following question to the never-ending book quiz:

In which pair of these pairs were the second pair star crossed lovers?

Helen, Hermie, Lice, and Dimwitt
Helena, Demetrius, Hermia, and Lysander*
your mom, my mom, your friend's mom, and your mom's mom
Romeo, Juliet, Heathcliff, and Cathy

* the answer marked as correct

...What? Unfortunately, I can't delete it myself because it's had more than 100 responses.

Heidi-Marie | 4 comments Ew. That's a horrible question!

message 3: by Sara (new)

Sara (weisthis) | 48 comments wow thats really stupid

message 4: by Rowena (new)

Rowena (rowenacherry) | 27 comments Not only is it horrible, stupid, and in poor taste especially with regard to the third option, but it is badly punctuated.

message 5: by Elise (new)

Elise (eliseisreading) | 18 comments Maybe a superlibrarian has the power to delete it?

Nope, even superlibrarians cannot delete trivia questions with more than 100 responses.

message 7: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessicareading) | 69 comments Deleted it. Thanks!

Thanks, Jessica. :)

message 9: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl This question needs to be associated with a book, unless the people answering it are clairvoyant.

Fixed (based on the question the user entered just prior).

message 11: by Banjomike (new)

Banjomike | 5530 comments On the subject of associating books with trivia, can I ask that people first look at the description of the book on the page they are linking to?

I've come across questions where the answer is given in the description of the book. I get the impression that book links are sometime added just for the sake of it.

They are, to make it easier to find them via "questions on this book". But yes, if the summary is a giveaway, probably best to add the link in the box that only shows up after the question is answered, and not to the question itself.

Banjomike | 5530 comments Keeping this thread for peculiar trivia questions, does anyone have any idea what this one is on about.

http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/show/...

I've cleared the 'never ending quiz" box.

edit:
This is the book

message 14: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl Sigh.....no clue.

message 15: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (seeford) | 579 comments OK, you did the hard part of finding the book, so I edited it to clean it up and added the book's link to the question.

message 16: by Banjomike (new)

Banjomike | 5530 comments Yay, this is going to be a fun thread.

message 17: by Banjomike (new)

Banjomike | 5530 comments Is there an 'official' view on this type of question?

http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/show/...-

I've cleared the 'never ending quiz" box.

message 18: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7029 comments My response would be in my personal opinion stupid question! but it is a question about a book and the book is mentioned therefore it stays - would be good to have a hyperlink to the book but ..................

message 19: by Ralph Gallagher (new)

Ralph Gallagher | 212 comments I think that question needs to go. either that or it needs to be edited to make it specific to which edition it's referring to.

message 20: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (seeford) | 579 comments Agree with Ralph on this one - as soon as Under the Dome is issued in PB (if it isn't already), the page count will be inaccurate.

message 21: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 25353 comments I've got a copy of Under the Dome, in paperback, from the Library (so it must have been out a while already) sitting in front of me, right now.

So I agree with Ralph and Carolyn.

message 22: by Dick (new)

Dick Tinto | 184 comments Wondering if this is a legitimate trivia question? Considering it doesn't seem to have anything to do with a book, or literary knowledge.

message 23: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (seeford) | 579 comments Nope, that one needs to be deleted.
Can a super do it, please?

message 24: by rivka, Librarian Moderator (new)

rivka | 44215 comments Mod
Gone. (I love the explanation of why it's book-related in the comments -- it's in books! Um . . .)

message 25: by Banjomike (new)

Banjomike | 5530 comments This genius has only submitted 8 questions but 7 of them are "how many pages". Too many takers for me,
please delete (just the first 7 questions)
http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/submi...

And while we are on the subject, the one I listed in message 17 is still there, please delete,

Gone. Next time, please link to the question, rather than to its edit page. Thanks!
