I've come across questions where the answer is given in the description of the book. I get the impression that book links are sometime added just for the sake of it.

They are, to make it easier to find them via "questions on this book". But yes, if the summary is a giveaway, probably best to add the link in the box that only shows up after the question is answered, and not to the question itself.
