Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I would never read this shit to my son.

I saw an article the other day about how fairy tales are good for children, teaching them morals and personal responsibility, even if the stories are dark and might call someone a derogatory name like dwarf.

Where has The Blaze been all my life? That looks like a site that's right up my alley. Over to the right I saw that story about Stephen King bitching that he doesn't pay enough taxes.

Scott I doubt this is real. Check the "about" section and see who runs the site.

KumeKei | 238 comments A lot of children stories are indeed dark and sometimes violent. But most of them serve a purpose that's not just entertainment.
Children learn the moral of the story and at the same time they learn that the world can be a cruel nasty place.
Sugar coating everything doesn't help preparing children for the world outside the bubble their parents created around them.

What's the worst that can happen to a kid who reads that the lumberjack kills the wolf with his axe or the witch poisons the princess (i could go on forever)?
They grow up to be horror fans!?!

fairy tales have messed me up lol

Scott It's not even a real book. It's an electronic online lesson. I don't see anything wrong with adapting a fairy tale to teach other lessons or themes.

Much about nothing...typical for this lot.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Scott, do you get off insulting people? Why do you even bother to come here?
