Hi There,

Okay, quick question - and I apologize if its been asked before.

37. Read 33 novels from your favourite genre provided that each novel is more than 333 pages OR you can choose to read 11 novels from your favourite genre, provided that each novel is by an author you haven't read yet and that each novel is more than 333 pages.

For Task 37 - Can you use series for this one?
Provided that its an author you haven't read before?
so there may be 3 or more books by the same author?
Or can we only use the first book for this task?

Lauren Smith As I understand it, you may use more than one book from a series only if you take the 33-book option.

If you'd prefer to use the 11-book option, then the first book in the series counts (assuming you haven't read anything by that author before) but the rest of the series cannot be used because you would already have read something by that author (ie. the first book in the series).

That is correct. Once you have read a book in a series by a new author, that author isn't new anymore. So you can use an author only once in the 11 book option.

Can someone refresh my memory, what was the start date of the challenge i.e. books read from which date would count?

Here we go :)

"Anyone can jump in, just use the books that you have read from the 1st of April."

Thanks, that would be 1st April 2011 for anyone else wanting to join. (Perhaps we should have a note of it in the challenge description)

It's in the "how this works" thread. I'll edit it to 2011 and bold it :)

For blind people like me that would be great!

Would The Shining Girls count for:
1. Read a book that takes place in 3 different mythical/imagined realms - parallel dimensions, mythical worlds?

I nominated that task, and no, it wouldn't. The whole thing is set in Chicago, just in different times. The only other 'space' is the House, which is atemporal. Even if you argued that it was another world, that would only bring the tally up to two worlds, which isn't enough. Sorry :(
