Ok I have a question about task 12. That is the one where you have to read a book where the title cooresponds with your initials. My initials are B M. So I have to read a book called called for example Blue Moon. But can it also be A Blue Moon or The Blue Moon. Normally we don't count those words in titles but do we do that now?
Yeah, I got a book for another task. I got 6 or 7 tasks already covered. I'm on a roll. I wish we had started already so I could start reading them.
Ok here are my questions. Can anyone please just clear some things up for me? :)
* Read an entire series consisting of 6 or more books. Re-reads not allowed!
So just to clarify, you need to start and finish the series completely to count? Not just go until book 6 right?
* 28. The terrible threes: Read three trilogies. (Not ones you've already started.)
Does this mean we can't read ones we have read before? Even if we start completely from the beginning?

Maybe you can delete the "Not ones you've already started" and replace it with "Re-reads allowed, but you must start from book 1."
17. Read a book that at least three of your friends have given less than three stars to.
Ok so who counts as friends? :P
People who i'm friends with on goodreads?
In the group?
In real life?

What do we do if you can't find a book that three of your friends have given less than three stars to?

Kk thanks

Can this be the last published novel by a living author, or is it dead authors only?

Deceased authors only.

Your absolutely right, my mistake.
There are so many tasks to look for books that I got several mixed up.

That's correct. You have to finish the whole series, or if it's an ongoing series, up to where it has been published.
So for example, mine would be Saga of Seven Suns. I'd have to read all 7 novels in the series.
Question?
Can novels used in one task count for another. IE - can a title for a book used in the trilogies task also be used for the 10 letter title task?

There has been a discussion about that in the nominations thread and the general consensus was that it should be one book one task.
But I have a question for you on the series consisting of 6 or more books. Say you finish this task and before you finish the challenge another book in this series is published. Do you have to read that book or not?

I got two more questions.
About task 24 the book with the original authors signature in the front. That means it has to be signed by the author, right? Having a bit of a language barrier problem here. Sorry!
Then about task 10 read a book where a main character has the same name as your mother. My mum's name is Wikje or Wik as she is normally called. That is a Frisian name and isn't even popular here in the Netherlands so I haven't been able to find even a dutch book with her name in it let alone a main character. Can I also look for books that uses her second name Geertruida or derivations of that name since it isn't that popular either?

Since you are a fast reader... yes! ;)
Seriously though, I think it could be viewed as optional. If the book hasn't been published by April 1st 2011 then it shouldn't be a requirement.

LOL. I wouldn't mind reading it since I would probably read it anyway, but I was just thinking what we would do if a book got published during the challenge. That's why I asked.

I was also a bit confused by this (don't worry Barbara, it's not you language barrier here!) but I also took it to mean a signed copy and not, for example, a book where the authos's signature is part of the cover design.
When we encountered the problem of unusual names in past challenges, the solution was to find a similar name that was more popular. Does your mom's name have any English equivalents? Otherwise if you find something for her second name that should be fine.

Does 'of' & 'the' count. E.g., can I use the Deep End of Fear

Or perhaps we could change it to say that all the words have to be in alphabetical order, but not necessarily consecutive order.
Can't we change the 1500 page requirement to 1000 pages. That should add lots of titles as options.
The thickest War and Peace I found had only 1200 pages including commentary.
Also for #35 would titles by Iain M Banks also count or is it only for his non sci-fi stuff?

Yes. please go ahead and change it to 1000 pages.
Lol sorry I made such a diabolical description :)
Agreed on the 1000 pages!
What do you guys want to do with:
A title with 3 or more words, each starting with consecutive letters of the alphabet?

Pretend it never happened? =P

Do complilations count or must it be an individual title?

Maybe you can delete the "Not ones you've alread..."
Oh thanks for explaining Kahlan :)
That clears up a lot! I just thought I couldnt reread any of the trilogies that I've read before

Hey Barbara - Geertruida is a popular old school Afrikaans name, so you might get an Afrikaans book, or you could use Gerty, which is a shortend version of the name

Yip, signed copy from the author... I think I should add that you should post a picture of it
