The companies who own the wires want in on the giant revenue pot web companies and websites generate. Their concern for the democratic nature of web access and the harmfulness and insidiousness of favoring certain sites and ghettoizing others may fairly be described as less than overwhelming.
Good point.I should rephrase:

But I share your perplexity. The Sixty-four thousand dollar question, the Great Mystery, the unknown ingredient in the Secret Sauce is why some of them aren’t motivated once in a while as consumers like the rest of us, rather than as ideologues, or as facilitators for the owners and interests who view the rest of us as juicy marks. I guess that’s just how they roll.
