The Proper Wife by Winnie Griggs

How exciting to have Eli Reynolds, the hero from The Proper Wife, a March release from Love Inspired Historical with us today.

1. Tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m decisive. I take action when needed. For instance, once I realized that I needed to take my sister away from the scandal she would be exposed to if we stayed in New York I moved quickly to sell everything and move all the way to Texas. And once I decided I needed to take a wife, I went right to work selecting one.

2. What do you do for fun?

Fun? There’s no real time for fun with all my responsibilities. I have to establish myself in this new town I’ve exiled myself to, get my home completed, make certain my step-sister is well cared for and find myself a respectable woman to marry who can help care for my half-sister and run my household.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Much as I hate to admit this, I did procrastinate a bit in selecting a wife. I had trouble finding a woman who could fit my ideal of a proper wife, and it is difficult for me to settle for second best.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Failing my half-sister Jenny the way I did my other sister Susan.

5. What do you want out of life?

To make a good life for my sister Penny. And to establish myself as a prominent and valued member of this new town we’ve moved to.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

My family

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

Classics, such as Shakespeare and Dickens

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I understood more about how to raise an impressionable young girl like my step-sister.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No - I’ve no time for such distractions. It seems my soon-to-be-bride has a dog of some sort that she wants to bring with her when she moves in. Don’t know much about the animal but I assume with a name like Skeeter it’s some kind of pampered lap dog. While I’m not particularly enamored with the idea of giving such an animal the run of my new home, I suppose I can put up with it for the sake of compromise.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’m perfectly happy living in 1893. But if I could go back one year and correct some of the mistakes I made with my sister Susan I’d do it in a heartbeat.
