Amber Baker One of my very favorite books is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. The sequel is really good too. He did another sequel, but from another characters point of view called Ender's Shadow that has 3 sequels of its own. And Card has many more books I really REALLY like.

The WORST books of all time that I've ever read was Wyrms, and Hart's Hope. Hart's Hope is truly especially garbage from start to finish. There was not one redeeming thread in the plot of this so-called book. The ending was terrible, he left you hanging. And not because he was planning on writing more, he just wanted you to come up with your own ending. It was wretched.

It also was by Orson Scott Card.

So my point is, just because you didn't like or enjoy Breaking Dawn at all doesn't mean you should give up on Stephenie Meyer altogether. If I'd never read another Card book after Hart's Hope I would've missed all of Ender's Shadow. Stephenie has a gift and a talent to tell a story that is spellbinding. Although her writing isn't perfect, for me her books are page turners. I can't wait to see what's going to happen. I'm excited and anxious to see what new books she will have in the future.

That being said, I've learned a lot from all of the discussions and appreciate everyone's point of view. I'm glad to be a part of goodreads!

Happy reading!

Kat Helgeson EXTREMELY good point!

Meyer has often referenced Card as one of her own favorite writers. More than any other author I've ever read, Card has definitely ranged between amazing and ridiculous. So yeah, if Meyer keeps writing I'll probably keep reading.

Shannon I'm gun-shy. Right now, I can't imagine reading anything else that she writes. BUT, after I process the bitterness of Breaking Dawn and have some time to put my disappointment in perspective I may feel differently. However, I'll probably wait until the book has been out for awhile, read a few reviews on it, and then make my decision. I definitely won't be pre-ordering.

Toni I suppose this is a reasonable ray of hope for loyal fans that were disappointed by this book, so I commend you for making a good point and comparison. Often good writers can produce works that leave their fans scratching their heads, but that doesn't mean they won't ever write another good book.

As for myself, I'll be staying away from any future works of Meyer's since for me the series has been getting worse book by book.

Shannon For me, I think Breaking Dawn was more indicative of Stephenie Meyer's true writing style than her other books. There has been some speculation that there was less editorial involvement on this project. That's what worries me. If I pick up another book of hers, I want to make sure that it's been well edited.

Amber Baker I'm not sure about that and this is why, Host was well written. A little bit slower maybe but still good and very creative.

And the not editting part cannot be true. There is no way a publishing company is going to put out a book that they didn't edit extensively. That is purely conjecture on the part of disgruntled and unhappy readers. There is no where on any interview or website has it been posted that there was no editing to this book.

Shannon I don't think it's a no-editing issue, just that there was less editorial involvement. In otherwords, the contract for her fourth book gave her more creative freedom.

Littleapplemom Minocha I am new to this site, I just finished the twilight series. I actually thought is was a slow descent downhill from the first one. I love the original poster's comparison. I love Ender's Game and the series, but I agree he has had some other terrible books. I am planning on reading The Host just to get another feel for her writing. Love this site!
