message 5658: by Zee (new)

Zee I thought you didn't enjoy TMR that much. You gave it 3 stars.

Alexandra (alexstalteri) | 513 comments First book syndrome? Eternity cure??

message 5669: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Finished Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies #1) by Isaac Marion
Reading Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi

message 5670: by Zee (new)

Zee How did you find Warm Bodies? Was it enjoyable?

message 5671: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I like it, it was entertaining and a bit weird though. Not the best read though.. still it's good. It was sweet yet weird.

message 5672: by Zee (new)

Zee Beatrice wrote: "I like it, it was entertaining and a bit weird though. Not the best read though.. still it's good. It was sweet yet weird."

Nah!
I'll just watch the movie;)

message 5673: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (alexstalteri) | 513 comments I might read it.. Idk yet

message 5674: by Zee (new)

Zee Anyone watched Safe Haven?

message 5675: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (alexstalteri) | 513 comments Nope.. It looks kinda sappy

message 5676: by Zee (new)

Zee I've read the book and it was one of the most amazing books I've ever read.
I'm gonna watch it this weekend hopefully.
You Should Watch It!

message 5677: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) You've never heard of first book syndrome.
I have it all the time. It's where you don't enjoy the first book as much as the rest of the series I have it all the time.
I find because of so much world building happening the story/characters lack so I just find the book okay, but then the books that follow on are great because the world building has already happened.

Alex - of course safe haven is sappy... It's a Nicholas sparks lol

message 5678: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (alexstalteri) | 513 comments I know but i dont know if ill like it that much.. And yeah i get what ur saying with the world building in the first book of a series, but i still usually find the first book amazing if its a good series all in all.. Sometimes the world building is what makes it so amazing

I have it most of the time.
But there are some exceptions like
Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

message 5680: by Zee (new)

Zee Reading The Indigo Spell

message 5681: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I know Alex but in some books the world building takes away from the overall enjoyment.
My examples are Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires, #1) by Rachel Caine Working Stiff (Revivalist, #1) by Rachel Caine The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa

All of those I thought the first books were ok but slow, but went on to love the others in the series. Hence I call it first book syndrome.

Zee, all of jen's books are epic so she is always the exception.

message 5682: by Zee (new)

Zee Jennifer is amazing.
I can't find Wait For You anywhere?!
When are they going to publish paperback copies of it?
P.S. I really enjoyed The Iron King from the very beginning.
AH! Ash!

message 5683: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Wait for you is self pubbed so only available as an ebook.

message 5684: by Zee (new)

Zee Kayleigh {K-Books} wrote: "Wait for you is self pubbed so only available as an ebook."

Oh!
Why did Jen self publish this one?

message 5685: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Because publishers wont but NA books that havent been self-pubbed first

message 5686: by Zee (new)

Zee That's bullshit!
Anyway, she's doing a great job without their help.

message 5687: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I know it is. All of them said it would be a bestseller but that they won't buy ones that haven't been self pubbed

message 5688: by harshini (new)

harshini (watchmeread) | 472 comments @ Z it's about abortion, and that is a topic that has huge controversies. I like it when an author takes the initiative to write about something like that.

@Nat lol! Same here when you have to go to school you just have to wake up *sigh*

message 5689: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (waterspout) Someone explain the significance of NA to me? Because I think YA and Adult are very good genres already. If the sex is too detailed it's adult, and if it isn't too detailed (or nonexistent) then it's YA.

Oh! That's explains:)
I'm dying to read it nonetheless *winks*

UGH!
Publishers could be a pain in the ass;)

message 5692: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Pamela I love NA!
It's the bridge between ya and adult. It has sex scenes without being smutty and too graphic so its not adult but its too mature for ya.

I just finished Losing It (Losing It, #1) by Cora Carmack and I agree with Kay.
NA is the best genre so far.

message 5694: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Ooh zee I'm glad you loved losing it. Cora is a great friend of mine and we are doing a special feature for the uk release!

WHY? WHY DO YOU ALWAYS MANAGE TO DRIVE ME CRAZY WITH JEALOUSY?!

You're SO lucky Kay.
You have no idea!

P.S. Cora is AMAZING! I can't wait for Faking It (Losing It, #2) by Cora Carmack

message 5696: by Kayleigh {K-Books} (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Faking it is gonna be awesome!
