Hullaballoo in the guava orchid - I bought the book online via Infibeam last month as I liked 'the inheritance of loss' by the same author. This one is satirical and a bit too absurd, still enjoyable

writing - good writing can make even insipid characters and bizarre plots readable
TTPBM: which is the first novel you read, and at what age?

message 3099: by Kunal (new)

Kunal Sen | 506 comments From most to least in order of priority for me: 1) Quality of writing, 2) Depth of the characters, 3) Plots/ Storylines

TTPBM: Novels or short stories? And please tell why one over the other.

message 3100: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47116 comments Mod
@Saurabh, Little Women was the first major novel I read at around 10 years of age or so (barring lots and lots of Enid Blyton in earlier years)
@Kunal, Novels - I love slowly getting involved with the plot and characters, sometimes characters are like friends to me. A short story ends everything too fast. I dont get emotionally entangled - I just feel like an outsider who is having a peek
TTPBM: same as Kunal's question
