Humbert Humbert in Lolita. He whines a lot, justifies his actions a lot, and sometimes I felt something akin to pity for him. Which is what an ingenious villain wants. Even now I can think of him only with distaste

when I hit a person hard on the back, mistaking him for my husband (both of us were attending a meeting for college staff, and were sitting apart with our respective departments: the meeting was prolonged, I wanted to go back home to my son, but my husband kept on talking to all and sundry as he usually does) and found to my consternation he is someone else altogether. I had to apologize and moreover see my husband and colleagues laughing at me, and I was ragged for being a husband beater)

LOL

message 2273: by Tarun (new)

Tarun | 589 comments Cant rem the most embarrasing one,but i rem this incident long ago when i was in college.I was in a flight with some friends. It was boarding time and everyone was settling on their seats with their hand carries when one of my friends said:Hey,i saw Chunkey Pandey boarding the same flight! To which my other friend replied:Oh,who cares for Chunkey Pandey,he's jus a flop actor suited only for B-grade movies!(he shudnt have said tht so loud!!)
To our embarrasment, Chunkey Pandey was standing just besides us occupying his aisle seat adjacent to our row!He who had obviously overheard it couldnt see us eye to eye as much as we cudnt see him, on that awfully long journey of 12 hours!!
Infact everyone on board seemed to have heard it,because they were all kinda giving us odd glances (or maybe we were assuming too much)LOL

message 2274: by Sujatha (new)

Sujatha | 526 comments Many but this one tops the batch.. It was the week after my wedding and me and my husband along with a few cousins were walking back from the temple at around 7 AM . I was wearing the traditional kerala style mundu for the first time. I did not notice that the end of the pallu that is tucked into the mundu had come loose and was flying like a flag behind me . Within a few seconds the girls were around me tugging and pulling trying to put things in place and i was embarassed beyond words. However my Inlaws back home attributed my face which was all red as the new bride's blushing, and i did not go and deny that...:) Its 17years since this incident but still brings a smile whenever i think of this...

McDonalds: My 2nd year. ordered for 5 coke floats.. n I had my nose up in the air trying to act smart. the guy at the counter warned me to be careful with them while he was serving. i was like- "yeah whatever!"
the minute i lifted it and turned I dropped all the floats on my self and all over the person standing behind me!!
couldnt look the guy in the eye while i re-ordered :P

Idiyappam is best served in South Kerala restaurants, rather, small hotels - we call those box shops/hotels (its a translation from malayalam - petti peedika type hotels)

@aditya:am as alien to south india as am to ladakh.the only places i've been to in south india are bangalore, hyderabad or a small place called erode (tht too for a day at the most)---where even dal makhani tastes like south indian chutney!---so i was glad to shut my mouth and live on whatever my acquaintances there entertained me to.

I dont know swimming. I may float based upon my body fat ratio :)
idiyappams are shaped a bit like idlis but are more like cousins of semia. those are very tasty, esp with some spicy curry
