Prosenjit Paul (bangaloredbong) | 80 comments Depending on which city I am in- there are different places!!

In an Indian context, I can speak of a few different cities.

Delhi:

There really isn't a better place to go hunting for second hand books than the Sunday book market in Daryaganj. There are second hand books available at throwaway prices (INR 100/kg onwards). The book market is one kilometre long, and is the perfect place to hit up for a book haul.

Kolkata:

There are three places that have great old books!!

The iconic college street book bazaar has a few hundred book stores that sell second hand books!

There are close to a dozen second hand book stores that have a great collection of old story books in Gol Park near the Ramakrishna Mission, that is a must visit for book lovers!!

Mumbai:

Mumbai has its iconic book street near the Flora Fountain where you get amazing second hand books!!

Bangalore:

Bangalore has some great second hand book stores!! Goobes, Bookworm and Blossoms are all within 1 KM radius of each other on Church Street and MG Road.

In addition, in my travels to the UK and Australia, I have seen that the charity shops are a great place to pick up pre loved books at a pound or a dollar each!! And the proceeds go to charity as well.

Hope you find this useful!!

Also recently I pick up books from the NGO Goonj.org - they get a lot of old books donated by folks who want to recycle....

(Sorry for the long post!!)

Longest you've read continuously without stopping

message 22216: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments When I began reading English novels, I have finished 400 odd pages books in a couple of days. That meant devoting the entire time to reading taking just the mandatory breaks. That was fast for me. Some ppl claim to read 100 pages per hour. Never possible for me.

TTPBM Indian authors or foreign authors?

message 22232: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments I prefer foreign authors as they cover more genres. Indian authors rarely venture into science fiction, legal thrillers, medical thrillers and political thrillers. About 10-20% of books that I read in a year are by Indian authors.
