Ive not read a single one of these authors but they are going to join my never ending lists to be read.
Personally, I'm not a fan of either non-fiction or memoirs because Im constantly wondering to the honesty of the memoir. How do some people have more colourful childhood than mine? Thats's always a doubt.

I like to sit on my couch, then I blast some tunes on the speaker. (Yes, I'm a loud person) I also get a cup of tea, and finally I customise my e-book settings, or I just read a physical book..

TTPBM : Name any book that you think will scare me.

message 21961: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments Certain portions of Robin Cook's Blind sight (I think) and Tami Hoag's Ashes to Ashes frightened me. But I was a newbie reader when I read those books. Not sure if they will have the same effect now. I don't remember what scared me in recent times.

TTPBM: Your Favourite dish?

message 21963: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments I mostly prefer chicken biryani made in the Tamil Nadu style. I haven't been satisfied with the biryanis in other states. For example, I didn't like the North Indian biryanis much. It tasted more like pulao. While here in Hyderabad, where I work, the Hyderabadi biryani is not the same as TN biryani. I get bored of it after having it for a day.

I've watched so many of the Barbie , Horrid Henry ,Barney episodes , My Little Pony episodes, and movies each at least a million times, and I'm not exaggerating. The Mummy , Jab We Met, Inside Out , BFG and many more I can't remember now.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments @ Selva and Austin, I just read Ice Bound with Tamzeen and parts of the book where she describes the timelessness in Antarctica. It sent chills down my spine. Imagine living in a world where the only indicator of passing time is your clock, and when you fight or don't get along with someone, the only way to forget them is to walk away.

message 21968: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments Ice bound - noted. will check out.

tazmeen ✨ (tazz_meen) | 1015 comments Hmm, a few Robert Louis Stevenson's books like Treasure Island were a little difficult to understand because of some old English, but Shakespeare's plays are also hard.. (I read these books as a young reader so I'm not sure)

Ttpbm: A book you tried to love but could not.

message 21985: by Austin (last edited May 17, 2023 01:51AM) (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments The Flounder by Günter Grass. The novel seemed like something I would love as it was mostly about food! Add to that a wise talking fish which features throughout the book as one of the MCs. Yes, you read it right, a talking fish. Despite all the ingredients for a wonderfully delicious book, it was boring to read as I didn't like the unconventional style of writing.

Sorry, I don't know any new authors as our library doesn't have the latest books and I don't read online. I recently found that Wilbur Smith is a good author albeit an old one.
