message 21751: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments £ Some banks in TN have a government holiday tomorrow. My sister works in a bank in TN.

I am Malala. That's the only non-fiction book I have read in the last 4 years. Speaks volumes about me. The book was good though.

TTPBM : Do you like to update apps on your phone and desktop?

message 21752: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I don't mind the update in my laptop because it happens once per week. My newer phone is not connected to any wifi or such because I bought it to play music and video on it. (my previous phone fell apart from the heat of an update)

TTPBM : If possible, do mention a joke you liked from a book, movie, or series... if not , tell us if you have Disney+, or not.

message 21753: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments I have subscribed to Disney+ on my phone for one year

TTPBM : Do you sleep for 7-8 hours on most days?

message 21754: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments Nope, barely 4-5 hrs. I wonder how Sleeping Beauty felt? did she have bed sores? How unromantic is that!!(*⌒∇⌒*)

TTPBM : Is it the degree or the college that finally matters when you go out to look for a job?

message 21755: by Mansi (new)

Mansi | 386 comments It depends,it may help or may not .But Education does matter.

TTPBM knows to speak French and is willing to practice with me

message 21756: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments No. I know only a little French. Been learning for 6 months.

TTPBM Same

message 21757: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I can't speak french, but seeing my daughters books have realized that writing and reading French isn't such a great deal at all. Im curious though , how will you practice French together, here?

TTPBM: How often do you speak in any other language than your mother tongue or English?

message 21758: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments Almost every day I have to use some Hindi as I live in Hyderabad and don't speak Telugu. I can understand 30% of Telugu but I can't speak.

TTPBM Same

message 21759: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I use Marathi and Hindi a lot since I'm in Mumbai. Telugu is my mother tongue.

TTPBM : Have you seen any movie in that language that you know but can't speak. if , so , any favourites?

message 21760: by Venu (new)

Venu | 80 comments I watched Kantara in Kannada. I liked it

TTBM: which is your favourite movie adaptation of “Hamlet “

message 21761: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments Haha. Nope. I am in a massive movie slump. I hardly watched any movies in the last 4 years after I started reading again after a long hiatus.

TTPBM : which is your favourite season?

message 21762: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments Venu - I liked Haider with Shahid Kapoor as the hero.

message 21763: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I think monsoon. I love to watch the rain falling, and I hate getting wet, especially the feet.

TTPBM : What's the most beautiful heritage site uve been to ? which one is o n your bucket list?

message 21764: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Le Morne Cultural Landscape, on my island. I don't have a bucket list. But I do want to go to England with my family and show my brother the mall called Asda.

TTPBM : on what occasion would it be worth it to spend a lot on a computer or laptop?

message 21765: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments Any milestone achievement/ birthday will warrant that, especially if one loves computers.

TTPBM : what is your idea of success?

message 21766: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Have enough, live freely, and die without regrets.

TTPBM : What is the longest devotional song (of your religion) that you know by heart?

message 21767: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I like that idea of success.

Sri Rama Raksha Stotram. and the Srisuktam
There was a time when I knew many more, but now I need to refer to be accurate. Furthermore, I think my concept of prayer has changed.

TTPBM : Has age changed your perceptions/ previous information regarding God/your religion and how you pray.

message 21768: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Yes it has. I'm an atheist now. Been so since 2003, when I joined the workforce! No cause and effect, but I become sure by then :)

TTPBM : What is YOUR idea of success (whoever is answering the prompt)?

message 21769: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments If you are really happy and content without any major regrets, that would be good for me.

TTPBM which OTT player do you think has the best programming?

message 21770: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments I had to Google OTT. Content wise that is relevant to me, I find Disney + more suitable.

TTPBM Same

message 21771: by Luffy Sempai (last edited Apr 05, 2023 02:24AM) (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I don't watch much TV :/

NHIE TTPBM : Same?

message 21772: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments Luffy wrote: "I don't watch much TV :/

NHIE Same?"

Huh? Wrong game Luffy. Hahahahahahaa

message 21773: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I'm so disappointed with all the OTT content streaming currently-reading at ky place. With Netflix, Prime, and Disney I'm still lacking great shows/movies. I've gone back to fmovies

message 21774: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments sorry forgot to ask

TTPBM: How many mango boxes have you / your family binged off?

message 21775: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments Mangoes are yet to arrive, I think.

TTPBM what has been your best read so far this year? How many have you read?

message 21776: by Mansi (new)

Mansi | 386 comments No never purchased boxes, only loose ,I think since u live in Maharashtra there ppl purchase the delicious Alphonso mango petis ,right

TTPBM if I ask u a loan of sth 1 lac rs. will you give it ,think abt it then give ,or deny outrightly

message 21777: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments yup, I live in Mumbai, and we buy petis of Mangoes. hapus is in a big way.
if I know someone, then yes, I'll loan the money, no questions asked; provided ofcourse I have that kind of disposable money.

TTPBM
why will you never pick up a genre you are not comfortable with

message 21778: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments Selva : To answer your question, I've read some fab books
1. The Dutch House
2. The Devil and the Dark Water
3. Fried Green Tomatoes at the.Whistle Stop Cafe.
4. As you walk on By.

I know there are a couple I have seen to be missing, but they are mostly romance.

message 21779: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments We read books for fun + certain other factors. For me, I don't like fantasy and sci-fi...I didn't even find HP to be fun though I liked some of the movies alright.

TTPBM: What to you hate more? Heat of summer or messiness of winter (caused by rain)

message 21780: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments both are unbearable. I hate the humidity on Mumb
ai, and I absolutely hate getting wet in the rain. The best part of the rain is to enjoy it from the indoors.

TTPBM: Is breading an isolated activity, or do you listen to music with it?

message 21781: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments The place where I live in chennai, you can bear with the rain but for the power cuts. Summer heat is unbearable though.

By breading I guess u mean having your food...I usually switch on news(mostly, unless there is a cricket match or something) n then have my meal. Tea n coffee, I like to have it in silence watching the traffic.

TTPBM same

message 21782: by Luffy Sempai (last edited Apr 05, 2023 06:58PM) (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) @message 21883 TTPBM what has been your best read so far this year? How many have you read?

Great question! I have read 11 books and the best one has been Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World.

@message 21884 TTPBM if I ask u a loan of sth 1 lac rs. will you give it ,think abt it then give ,or deny outrightly

It depends if we are on great terms and what you need it for. I would probably direct you to richer people than me.

- I'll answer it believing breading to be a misspell. I like to read either way, with or without music.

TTPBM : Last song you listened to?

message 21783: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I'm actually obsessed with a couple of pakistani songs - Bari by Bilal Saeed and Momina Musteshan. it's a 2 part, and it's just lovely. It grows on you, and I hear it at least a couple of times a day. The other song surprisingly happens to Gucci by Aroob Khan. such a pleasant song. And finally Pasoori singer's new song called Sabat. the lyrics here are outstanding. and Ali Sethi has outdone himself.

TTPBM : same and any new singer you have discovered

message 21784: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Thank you for taking the time to write your reply. I last listened to a Japanese song called Rainbow Halo, by the group Red Velvet. I want to keep the songs I listen to. So I either download it from YouTube, or record it when it streams (I use deezer, a French rival of spotify). The latest singer I discovered is Reona. She sings so softly that it is quite difficult to imitate her.

TTPBM : which movie was better, Sholay or Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge?

message 21785: by Mansi (new)

Mansi | 386 comments Sholay - and it's iconic , remember Gabbar kitne aadmi the

TTPBM - WHICH of the two languages you prefer as an Indian - Hindi or English

message 21786: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments Both are good and so different from one another, it doesn't make sense comparing them. I guess women would like DDLJ more and men - Sholay.
I like Satya more than both these films.

TTPBM what was the first film you watched in a theatre?

message 21787: by Luffy Sempai (last edited Apr 06, 2023 01:37AM) (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) @Mansi I'm not Indian. My grasp on Hindi is so limited yet I cannot make any effort to improve. The slang, and the colloquialisms escape me. So I have to go with the English language.
@Selva I watched Qurbani, but remember very little as I was exactly the latter.

TTPBM : If you could be a doctor or a neuroscientist, which would you be?

message 21788: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments @Luffy The book you mentioned seems to be a very good one. Thanks for the recco.

message 21789: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Selva wrote: "@Luffy The book you mentioned seems to be a very good one. Thanks for the recco."

You're most welcome, Selva.

message 21790: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments A doctor, especially either gynaecology or neonatal doctor. They have a wider reach more day to day mundane issues to treat.

TTPBM: what profession would you have loved to join if given a chance to turn back the time.

message 21791: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I don't have any idealised career, and it's something I realised only after you asked this question... Pretty cool, given the thought processes I went through to arrive at this conclusion :)

TTPBM : What is your favourite day of the week?

message 21792: by Mansi (new)

Mansi | 386 comments When I was employed it was Saturday now it doesn't matter ,maybe Monday

message 21793: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments for me, any day where I can sleep in for more than 5hrs , not worry about the morning rush with breakfast/tea /tiffin and all the mundane activities to survive. (That, by the way is currently the most exotic fantasy I'm creating).

TTPBM : what's the most memorable memory you have with either your siblings/friends

message 21794: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments We friends used to go to Ooty in the winter when it is very cold n have a drinking party. Max fun that I can recall.

TTPBM Same

message 21795: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments when we were really young , my mom had enrolled us in swimming classes. My sister and I would be ready to leave , but my younger brother would climb up onto the cupboard and sit there. The mayhem at home - my mom begging him to come down, my brother crying away loudly, and my neighbours threatening my mom for troubling my brother. All this would happen every day that entire summer. Recently, I just remembered this incident, especially since he's a good swimmer now.
My favouritist memories of those swimming classes were the jam crackers we had as a snack after swimming.

TTPBM: How do you see your life panning out in the next couple of years

message 21796: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments Hmm...I learnt swimming all by my own. But it took some time. Maybe going to a class would have made it quicker.

Next couple of years? Hopefully I will find a job that I like n take it from there.

TTPBM same

message 21797: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) That, is a secret. Sorry guys :)

TTPMB : If you had to select only one meal to eat everyday without exception, what would it be?

message 21798: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4069 comments Chapathi

TTPBM : Same

message 21799: by Selva (new)

Selva | 3391 comments Only one meal...typical south Indian lunch with rice n curries. Nothing else will sustain me for a whole day.

TTPBM : your most hated food/ dish
