What does it mean 'malarkodi pole'? I have searched for it on youtube and it is really nice to hear.

TTPBM: favorite lullaby as you were a child.

I am not sure, but I think the meaning of malarkodi is flower shoot ( the new stem shoot which comes out)

Meenakshi (mcoolshi) | 1965 comments I don't know there are many. One sanskrit song that my mother composed herself and a hindi song - Bhola bhola rat te rat te beeti re umariya.
My mother is a classical singer so she sings well and I enjoy her lullabies.

mine was a sadistic lullaby. My mother and aunts say that I used to go to sleep only if they sing melodiously 'I will hit your mother, I will hit your father...." till all known family members were done with.
TTPBM: your first memory?

message 2014: by dely (new)

First memory? Perhaps at the age of 5 as I was by an aunt and I tried to read a newspaper but of course I wasn't yet able to read.

Nowadays my son celebrates it on my behalf, he forces us to get cakes and have dinner at any restaurant. He even tells all and sundry and make them wish me. Its quite embarrassing as even strangers are compelled to wish me by my forceful son

TTPBM: what birthday gift you'd like to receive for your next birthday?

a huge hardbound book on 'favorite tales for children' (I am not sure of the title) when I was 10 -presented by my parents - it was a costly book and had beautifully illustrated and abridged chapters from classics- I was surprised as we never had the tradition of giving/receiving birthday presents. So it was doubly precious to me. I have it even now and have preserved it for my son.
