My favorite evil characters are 'Dementors' from Harry Potter. This is their definition:

I haven't read many fantasy. I have read one of Haruki Murakami's, Six of Crows and HP and yeah, abandoned everybody's favourite LOTR. HP seems like a clear winner to me.
