I don't think making a list of specific rules to live by is a good idea, maybe it will help if it gets changed according to change in our society. e.g., slavery was acceptable one time but we realized later that it is not only unacceptable but also violates basic human rights.
If we make such list then people will form a cult around it and kill each others for not following it, just teach kids to 'think for themselves' so that they don't grow up to be another sheep in the herd, that is the way to go. ;)
